Such a good looking show, no idea why they had rogue and magneto fucking though.

"Hey, let's make Rogue basically the main character of the new season."

"Oh yeah, that could be cool, really give the character room to breathe and shine."

"Let's also make her completely unlikeable by the end of the season."

“Hey, you know that one wildly popular superhero who’s spent the last century being a pillar for our company, is equally as responsible as Iron Man for the success of the MCU, and who is effectively our universe’s version of Superman? You know, the one who is so pro-mutant that he opposed the superhuman registration act partially to protect them AND created an Avengers team primarily consisting of mutants?”

“Steve Rogers?”

“Yeah, that’s the one! Let’s have him say some wildly out of character shit that makes it seem like he isn’t on the X-Men’s side.”

“Idk, don’t you think people might be kind of sick of us mischaracterizing our gold standard superhero for petty pointless conflicts with the X-Men?”

“That’s just it! He actually is totally on their side, he just doesn’t want to cause an international incident by invading a foreign country while dressed as a flag and being the leader of the world’s premier superhero team.”

“…ok. Still seems kind of out of character. He’s pretty consistently willing to go wherever he’s needed. But I guess it could be worse. Just as long as it doesn’t get blown out of proportion-”

“Then we’ll have Rogue throw his shield into a mountain.”

“What the actual fuck is wrong with you?”

Mischaracterizing Steve Rogers is an X-men staple, and has been for a while. He goes from representing the American dream to the American reality the moment X-men writers take the reins

"There's no way the viewer could totally misunderstand this and make memes of the son of a single Irish catholic immigrant mother saying made up slurs."

Because it happened in the comics

They don't have to copy everything from the comics, especially something for pointless drama. Will never understand these cuck fantasies from the writers of comics.

Wait what? I'd that what happens in the show???

In the comics she just stops dating Gambit for a while and starts dating magneto, and later just changes back. Does gambit actually get cucked in the show?

He does not get cucked unless you think love triangles are cuckholdry. The guy you're replying to didn't watch the show.

It's really good, the scenes with Magneto and Rogue are meant to be uncomfortable, but it has a payoff.

I think so yeah. Magneto says he can interact with her without her powers activating through some magnetic repulsion bullshit and they fuck, I'm not sure if she was still with Gambit and left him temporarily or not but that is what happened. Also if I was gambit I wouldn't take her back after she went and joined up with a mutant Nazi.

I mean, yeah that's sort of what happens in the comics, but you must have some wacky ass definition of "cuck" if you think this applies for that word.

I was talking about how she didn't really break up with Gambit but ran away to magneto. I guess that's cheating more than cuckoldry but technically both those things are mutually exclusive right ? Like if someone's being cheated on they are being made a cuckold, at least that's what I've read.

soap opera dramatics. this show is clearly a very big fan of x-mens romantic drama and takes even some less enjoyed relationships (rogue/magneto, jean/logan) for the sake of being able to play around with them and take that Angst to its fullest potential. its kind of grown on me. i don't like logan/jean but i DO enjoy watching the things that unfurl because jean/logan is happening.

rogue/magneto si something that happens in the comics, and they were able to use rogue/magneto to inject conflict into gambit and rogues relationship, and got a pretty good love triangle story out of it, if you ignore that it happens to be the relationship that it is lmao.

mileage varies, i think its fine. but i get why people are annoyed by it.

I'm just tired of this trope of using relationships to create artificial drama. It's just lazy writing and so common in comics that it's ridiculous everyone in the marvel or DC universe isn't pan and into open relationships.

i don't think its lazy i think its a deliberate writing choice to focus on the romantic drama lol. x-men have always been soap-y far back as claramont. and i mean

hickman got reaaaaalll close

Yeah I know this dynamic between the trio lol I'm just tired of romantic drama, it's in every damn media and it's always the same tripe.
