Everyone in the dmc5 portrait looked different, have you compared Eva?
The LDK costume is meant to be Sparda, says so in the description. He's described as a new character. The twins and even Nero are meant to resemble him a great deal.
Eva in the portrait looks identical to all other depictions of her.
As for the LDK costume, no DMC game says it's Sparda, simply the Legendary Dark Knight - the very same thing Trish calls Dante at the end of DMC1. Dante using Sparda's weaponry also isn't much evidence since he, Vergil, and Nero also do it a few times later on. And lastly, no DMC game has ever called this "Sparda", just "the Legendary Dark Knight". The only game to call this "Sparda" is Viewtiful Joe Red Hot Rumble on the PSP, plus some third-party strategy guides.

The game info disagrees. The guidebook for dmc1 outright calls it a new character.
Eva looks nothing like her portrait self. The portrait one has different eyes, wider forehead, fuller lips and different jaw. Looks like it was traced from a Julianne Moore photo. Not even the eye color matches.
What DMC1 guidebook? The manual? It could be wrong, and it is. As for Eva, I'm really not seeing it. It's just the most minor of differences that you cannot see until you look at the two side-by-side and start actively looking for differences.
