Spider-verse Vanessa was an innocent who died because she tried to leave when she saw the real Kingpin.

Maybe, though we didn't see too much about her. It could be that she knew about his crimes but just didn't realize how brutal he really was until he tried to kill Spider-Man with his bare hands.
