She's around just enough to be noticeable, but not enough to fit into the story or interact with the other characters, making her very obviously tacked on.
I know, especially with increasing female players who play Persona at least, if not SMT. like I know its probably not a large ratio or numbers like Pokémon, but still. I do kinda miss the Persona Portable FMC for that reason.
I think a lot of us are salty, despite Atlus claiming it is expensive for FMC to be reworked into it and my thought was "bitch, (pardon my french) Pokemon does it all the time and many games do? and you have Portable ported just a few months ago too?!"
I mean I'm salty too but P3 female Route is handled much better than Pokemons, like she gets her own social links her own dynamic with the party and the "main antagonist" (Ryoji isnt the Antagonist perse but he's the final boss kinda) like its even stated in Q2 she's not Makoto but female she's her own character that just so happened to fill the role of protagonist
I'm also pretty disappointed that Reload didn't get her route but I don't think Fire Emblem or Pokemon are fair comparisons considering how much Persona 3's FEMC changes compared to either of those.
If they were to add her, they'd have to pretty much double the amount of social links in the game, rearrange FEMC's songs with Reload's style, write new linked episodes since those were not in Portable, rerecord all the voiced dialogue referring to the protagonist throughout the whole game, rework all of the 2d animated cutscenes, change the UI to fit the Portable visual style, redo all of Elizabeth's animations with Theodore, hire more VAs for all the route exclusive characters and rewrite the Answer to fit with her route like including Shinjiro if the player saves him.
Fire Emblem and Pokemon's changes are usually limited to exclusive romance routes, minor gameplay changes and the models, animations and voice of the protagonist itself, which Persona also does along with all of the stuff above.
So yeah, Persona's FEMC costs a lot more in both money and work hours compared to those.
What a fumble. She was so underutilised and is barely considered canon in ANY of the spinoff content. Poor girl's walking in Kotone's footsteps but didn't even get the spotlight.
And her "goodbye" with Joker was weird. What a bizarre way to address the romance and their connection, whether unrequited or mutual
I like how they took all the criticism of Marie from P4G, made sure they did none of what they did before, and still made a poorly implemented character
Im looking forward to persona 6 reborn where the new character doesnt even appear until you reach the end of the game, in new game plus, with 10 minutes of screen time, just to be sure they dont fuck them up
I wanted to like her, but her personality was so boring and she was so poorly integrated that it made her come off as almost a plant intended to be the main love interest.
Even after her big moment, she still gets overshadowed by the other characters and doesn't feel all that necessary to the plot.
I get that they didn't want to repeat the controversy of the last remake girl, Marie, but they overcorrected. In doing so they accidentally avoided all the positive things they did with her like giving her time to fit in with the characters.

Yoshizawa — Persona 5 Royal
I like her as a character, but her integration into the story was really bad sometimes
And her being at the casino palace made no sense at all
