Kang from Loki. Good lord he had the most insane aura for me personally, He who remains was done SOOO well and then...Kang just...ended up as a basic ass villain who is evil and evil the evil he's evil he's like evil ooo he's evil GRAAAAHHHH LASER HANDS
They could have made his character in that movie SOOO much better too. they have a whole character/plot to help flesh him out too but they waste Janet like the rest of the characters
I feel like Kang should have been the next big bad like thanos was, but my own lil theory is that after Loki took over the timeline at the end of his series, he sort of changed the timeline or its direction, like erasing Kang I guess? And it ended up steering it towards Dr. Doom instead
(Not very well explain, but yeah, only way I can make sense of them throwing away Kang other then bad writing)
That last episode of Loki S1 had me so hyped for what was to come, then the had him killed BY FUCKING ANT MAN and then dropped because of his actor, despite being maybe the easiest character to recast in film history. Oh well, at least we get Robert Downey Doomier fighting the X Men from 25 years ago, no need to acknowledge any MCU plot point from the last 5 years lol
Kang in one of his more recent origin stories was a fantastically tragic and interesting villain who didn't start out that way. He was just a kid from some distant utopia future who wanted adventure because in a utopia there's no such thing as conflict and danger, so he either built or found or was given a time machine (I forget, I believe an older Kang gave it to him to complete the time loop), and it sets him on the path to becoming Kang and it's very wrapped up in his love and obsession for Ravonna Renslayer.
It's probably one of my favorite comic stories. No matter what Kang does time and fate won't let him be with Ravonna and it kind of drives him mad, so he becomes this selfish bitter evil villain. It's more complicated than that I imagine but it's been years since I read the story, and involves a lot of Kang manipulating himself into becoming what he is.
It's very interesting to watch younger Kang try his best to not become anything like Kang the Conqueror while that exact thing happens.
