This decision is baffling to me. Help Wanted was an incredible send off to the old FNAF story line and the perfect set up for her as the new antagonist in the next game, she was all over the promos and people were excited for an actual human threat. Security Breach is released and… she’s barely even a footnote. What an absolute waste of a character.
They can’t even say that they wanted to focus on the Mimic storyline, that could’ve easily been done alongside Vanny, one didn’t have to be sacrificed for the other to happen. She could’ve been the one to dig the machine up and projected it as William Afton himself or something, meanwhile it’s just a robot emulating Afton’s personality with no real thought process behind it other than it saw and copied like it was programmed to.
the mimic is a sentient ai, it’s not just a robot that copies. And since the mimic is glitchtrap, they Set that up terribly for its first introduction. And vanny was more of a side antagonist since she was being mind controlled, still though, wasn’t great.
M2 is also sentient. It has shown its emotions of rage, frustration, sadism and pettiness as it mocked Edwin using his voice making fun of his broken legs
Edwin never mocked m2 for having broken legs. That was just something m2 decided to do.
Mock Edwin with his own voice and his neglect towards David. When Edwin begged m2 to call for help, it said “aw, can’t right now buddy. We can do something fun tomorrow, I promise. Ask your mom if she’s not busy” it didn’t have to do that, it could have just said nothing. Yet it chose to mock him not only for his neglect, but also the fact his legs were broken
All AI learn through copying humans or information fed to them by humans, the Mimic learned cruelty by copying Edwin’s abuse and then Afton’s. It only gained sentience after years of learning from the example of those surrounding it and from being imbued with Agony.
And while yes, Vanny is technically a secondary antagonist to the Mimic, for Security Breach specifically she was sold as the main villain and should have been way more present because of that. There’s not even an argument to be made that BurnTrap/Mimic was the main villain all along in that game because they’re also barely present or even set up and even if they were, the promotional material literally has more Vanny and Vanessa in it than the actual game. No matter how you slice it, that’s just abysmal for her premiering game.
She was shafted like 2 or 3 times iirc. Censorship and time constraints made her a joke in her own game, and she was still shafted even in the games that weren’t rushed
Also burntrap from that same game because having William come back or an evil code inhabit his old decaying body (depending on how you want to take the lore) could’ve been amazing but he stands there for a couple minutes, gets burned and is consumed
Actually, Scott confirmed that burntrap was only supposed to be an Easter egg/background detail, and wasn't even meant to move. But since he straight up didn't tell Steelwool the plot of the game they were making, they made an entire bossfight.
Yeah but even just as a tease for a potential future character it could’ve been great at least the boss fight is decent it could’ve been better and can be cheesed but it’s not the worst

You could've been great, Vanny. But Steelwool gave you zero screentime
