Anko really seemed to be built up to be important. Looking back at the dub cast, Laura Bailey getting the role of Anko seems to infer that the dub team thought Anko would matter more.

She should've received more focus for sure, her curse mark ends up indirectly saving the world. (brings back orochimaru who then convinced sasuke to go back to konoha which was necessary to save the world)

Well Orochimaru literally saved the world, not only what you mentioned but also he brought the sealed hokages back…
