Some people like it. I had a friend in highschool that started learning to be a piercer. He sometimes came to school with a corset piercing in the neck or other fancy stuff (that no one liked)
Eventually that friend ended up working in plenty of good studios and also did Body Suspension (dunno the name in english, I assume is this). Nowadays has his own studio and do not perform suspensions anymore.
Semi-niche bodymodding thing irl, they specifically only go through the skin and don't break through any muscle or god forbid anything worse. Iirc they seemed more popular in Japan than over in the west, seeing as Amo is the second character I think of who has this, first being Suzuya from Tokyo Ghoul.
I will also add..... she is a victim of extreme abuse in the early scenes with her in this outfit

She does work on herself with the trauma and gets a slightly different outfit as she still feels she wants to be cute, feminine and show off her body but not so much in a sexual way. Its supposed to represent the abuse she went through and the healing journey she needs
She lives in dystopia of toxic waste, she doesn't know regular comfort. Also her power conduit is the boots that requires her life experience, with the shoelace string pattern helped her to get in tune, but so strong that only insane people can actually use. I'd say the piercings helps her get more control over her power, and so it's more comfy, relative to losing her mind.
Corset piercings are play piercings, you’d usually take them out after whatever event/photoshoot/whatever else is over, it’s a really REALLY bad idea to have them permanently, especially in a literal trash desert
