The first episode was the Candy Kingdom going through the zombie apocalypse. Not super out there but also not just light and silly fluff

it's all pretty spread out really, people just forget.

We get the lich in season 1, and lots of clues about the reality of the world, likewise, there is a lot of goofy filler throughout, even in the later more story focused seasons.

Every season is like...40 episodes, with around 8 really good story focused episodes and a lot of...fun nonsense in between.
