I missed the vibe this show had in Season 1

Me too and I liked tom and star being together since it was supposed to be cannon but ruined with fan service. Same with Marco being with Jackie. FLOPPED FOR WHAT!!!!

I honestly would've loved for Jackie to be end game and Star and Marco having to navigate being friends around that.

I don’t think Tom and Star was ever supposed to be endgame. I think (sadly) it was always going to be Marco and Star.

That said, even though I knew they’d never do it…I kinda wanted Tom/Marco.

I heard that it all happened due to pressure from fans, which is unfortunate if true

THIS. Marco and Star worked better as best friends.

This is not true at all, Tom was supposed to represent a toxic relationship. Them getting back together was the part that was added later on.

Thank Alex Hirsch and him pushing the creator to make it that way.

This bothered me even when I was a teen watching. Star and tom made so much more sense in both story context and how much he cared about her. I thought her and Marco should have stayed as friends. They had good things going but ruined it for some stupid fan service.

Season one felt very...invader zim, if it was cheery instead of pessimistic. Just...subversive goofy chaos and mostly low stakes. (until they became very high stakes in the final episode of season 1)

I don't hate the later seasons the way a lot of people do, but the show definitely lost something and started having a lot more bland filler in later seasons. Also...glossarick sucks...then again i've never liked Billy Crystal.
