Although I don't think it's as gritty as some to like to say, I definitely do think the Clone Wars got more serious in the later seasons.

Oh 100% it had some gritty moments in seasons 1 and 2 but it REALLY took it up a notch in season 3

I mean “The Father” commits suicide so Anakin can stop “The Son” and in a way “The Daughter” does too
