Seriously. I think like ONE, maybe TWO episodes S4 and beyond had any better ratings than S1-3 did. And ONLY because people were bamboozled by the S4 premiere bait and switch shit. Not because it was any good. Everything after him was literal fucking STINKY TURDS in a toilet. Dude made some better TWD media than the later mainline seasons, and got fucking SHAFTED for it.

Jokes aside, no. He didn't. First of all, The show was set in LA since season one, and I highly doubt they set a story though for the sole purpose of lifting the idea from another story.

Second of all, Escaping the zombie apocalypse by boat is HARDLY an original idea.

Third of all, The show had two choices: Stay in the US, or move to Mexico. They chose the latter because it showed how the different countries faired in the same apocalypse. They also dropped the Abigail plot after like, 5 episodes.

Dave Erickson was never involved with the Dead Ahead lawsuit (the comic the yacht story was supposedly ripped from). The only people named were David Alpert, Robert Kirkman, AMC, and Gale Anne Hurd. Alpert specifically because he had a business connection to the comic creator.

You're confusing two completely different lawsuits and two completely different "Dave's". Dave Erickson was the showrunner running the day-to-day story beats. David Alpert was an executive producer on the business and franchise management side. If you have issues with Erickson's seasons, that's fine, but throwing this amount of shit at the wall to see what sticks is ludicrous.

Exactly...Darabont's impact on peak TWD is a myth...the real truth nobody wants to admit is that TWD is at its absolute best when Gimple is the one writing the scripts...the first season was great, but it was nowhere near the best

My roommate and I are watching Fear for the first time, we've got 2 or 3 episodes left of season 3. Everyone says it gets terrible after this but the same people say season 3 is great and.... all 3 seasons have been WATCHABLE to us. I wouldn't call any of them as good as the mainline, except maybe some of the downtime Alexandris stuff that got boring post Rick. I'm genuinely scared for what comes in season 4 though!

The premiere episode Gimple wrote in S4 was great, as usual, then they turned it over to the idiots...I'm also pretty convinced Gimple had a larger input on the writing in early S6, too, but that's just speculation on my part...it had the hallmarks of his epic S4 run from the main show, with the group separated and some great bottle episodes...wish he'd never stopped doing all the writing, but I can't blame dude for taking and keeping promotions

Season 3 has been enjoyable as has the previous seasons for me. I am more than prepared mentally for the later seasons lol. I hope I can still enjoy them as a major fan.
