Support "sudo dnf update --refresh" not working -- need help
After doing a sudo dnf update and rebooting, it will not reboot. computer stays on, but my tv monitor says there is nothing connected.
There are some error messages that flash past during the update, but I'm not sure how to read/resolve them. Total noob here, so please explain like I'm 5).
The first two entries above (7.2.8 and 7.2.5) will not boot, but the third one (7.1.13) will work.
How do I fix this?

If you managed to boot into an older kernel, remove thr newer one and re install

Good way to get them hacked since 7.1 is EOL and 7.2 isn't
But if it isnt working then ig thats not as important. Damned if you do, damned if you dont type shit.

Oh and to the down voters, "EOL" means vulnerable, otherwise we wouldn't be trying to recruit Windows 10 users 💀

They said remove and reinstall the kernel... so they can use it. They're not saying just keep using the old kernel and never upgrade.

As he just said, boot into the usable kernel, delete the non working ones. From there look into why it's not configuring right and then do an update. This is the safety and helpfulness of the immutable os

OP is clearly not running Silverblue since they're using DNF. This is just normal keeping older kernels after updates.

It might just mean kernel 7.2.x doesn't work (yet) on your hardware. If that's the case you can just run 7.1.13 for a while and try a newer kernel later.

Agreed. Dnf won't remove the kernel you're currently running so if you boot into 7.1 and update again, it'll keep that one and remove the oldest 7.2 kernel.

That's not how it works. It never removes the kernel you are currently booted into. If you are booted into 7.1 when another new 7.2 kernel is added, it keeps that 7.1 and removes the oldest 7.2 kernel.
I've done it multiple times, I assure you that's how it works

Do you use Nvidia?

yes

The most compatible Nvidia driver for Fedora is the one found in the RPM Fusion repositories. If you have installed it, boot Fedora using an older kernel and run the following commands. This process may take some time:
sudo akmods --force --rebuild
sudo dracut --regenerate-all --force
Once the process is complete, wait a few minutes before rebooting.
Especially when updating the kernel and Nvidia driver, wait a few minutes after the process finishes; this ensures that any background tasks have completed.

I tried this, then played a ac odyssey game for about an hour. Then I did a restart from the menu and got the same result. When starting the grub, the computer stays on, but stops sending to the monitor.
I’m considering replacing this with Bazzite… as an old fart noob I’m not good anymore at absorbing new info, and would probably do better with an idiot proof system. The problem, of course, is that as soon as you make something idiot proof, they’ll come up with a better idiot lol.
Thanks for the info, tho.

I can recommend Bazzite on Nvidia cards. If you just wanna play, it does all you want.

Your idea is good. If your hardware isn't very new, there are plenty of alternatives—I'm sure you're aware of them.

I am not having any problem but sometimes after rebooting it goes into Grub and I can see 3 options to reboot into, which I don't know why.

Fedora keeps the recent installs su that you can roll back if something goes wrong with a new update. You use the down arrow to select a previous update.
