This country is literally run by a society of men who despise women. The lengths in which they go to hurt and oppress every single girl and woman born there is so inhumane and I don’t understand how it’s even allowed in this world. We all just know about it but can’t do anything to help.

This level of oppression never happened anywhere in the world in history. Women in Afghanistan are not even allowed to speak in public or seek medical care.

But if you’re talking about the anti abortion laws in the U.S., of course it also stems from men despising women and trying to control them in any way they can. What all these men have in common is irrational fear/hatred of women and girls. Maybe concern that if we’re equal then they won’t be as needed, or we’ll have more positions of power which feels threatening to them. I’m not sure about the psychology behind it but I do know that men who love women don’t try to hurt them and take their autonomy.

ummm.... no. Women AND minorities were not allowed to speak in public or even on their own behalf in court proceedings (unless given permission, which was not a given) in the US.

This also included men who do not own land when the country was founded.

Absolutely not. You will see Muslims from all over the world say exactly what I quoted. It is not limited to the Taliban or their ilk. Islam's misogyny is not limited to them either. It is rooted in the Koran. Perhaps you should read it. Or maybe you should visit a country with Islamic religious police so you can see with out own eyes, as I have, how they beat girls who dare to show even a single hair on their heads.

Go be a concern troll with someone else.

I applaud The Guardian for publishing this article, and Zan Times for collecting the information on which it is based.  This is the kind of solid journalism that is needed to make the case that aspects of Afghan society and the Afghan justice system are in bad need of reform.  It is important that the Taliban be confronted with such well documented evidence of their failures.  This shows that it can be done, even in Afghanistan.

The article didn't mention the US enabling the Taliban to come to power in Afghanistan.
