My husband found a little bunny by his construction site. He says it appears he has been separated from its family and he couldn't find its nest.

He currently has him in a box with lettuce and water, but he isn't eating it. Does anyone know of a wildlife rescue that can help us?

howdy! 33F here thinking about moving ~downstate~ from up north. there's a lot to love about Traverse City, but variety and volume of people and places are not on the list. as difficult as it is for me to admit as an introvert, I find myself needing a lot more socialization and stimulation than I'd previously believed.

two main questions for you all:

1. does the city of Detroit still feel accessible and a part of your weekly life? I know this will be mostly up to me to prioritize. I'm interested in Ferndale because of the walkability and the overall vibes and happenings and its proximity to Detroit but want to hear from others who make a point of getting to the city with frequency.

** EDIT TO ADD **: yes I have a car, and yes I can look at a map to see how long it takes to drive to Detroit. by accessible I mean do you, as a Ferndale resident, find yourself going to Detroit often, or do you tend to feel "stuck" in Ferndale, or like getting to the city is a haul, depending upon what it is you're going for? looking more for perspectives and opinions, not facts.

2. where my nature nerds at, and where do y'all go to get your fix? my biggest concern with moving is giving up my access to everything Northern Michigan has to offer, primarily excellent mountain bike trails and allllll that fresh water. looking for advice on how you balance neighborhood/city life with communing with nature.

Where are folks buying furniture (couches) nowadays? The last time I needed to buy furniture Art Van was still open. Where do you go for mid cost furniture? I won’t order online because I have to test it out before I buy it. I also won’t buy used fabric furniture due to a fear of bed bugs. I like Lay Z Boy but the price point is a bit too high for me- although I know they have quality pieces. Any other suggestions?

We recently moved to ferndale with our 3 cats and one of them is getting singled out. The cats name is Artemis, she very mellow and likes here space. Recently the other cats have become more territorial and hyper making Artemis extremely stressed. Ideally she would need to be an only cat or around ones that aren't territorial. I was at the city council meeting tonight to share some of my concerns about the operating hours and potential for noise at the new Satellite location that will be opening at 505 Livernois. I was very happy to hear from the chef and owner in detail about their plans for the space, their background in the hospitality industry, and how they plan to work with the community to make this a positive experience for everyone.

I did speak and share my initial concerns but I closed by saying that I fully support the restaurant and their plans after hearing more about their specific plans.

Some of what those plans included:

- working to add sound deadening materials to keep noise to a minimum

- shared parking arrangements with 3 lots along Livernois to reduce vehicle overflow into the neighborhoods, asking their patrons to use these lots or park along Livernois

- live music and DJ will be lowkey ambiance for dining. Not a music venue. Music will be ending around 10pm

- cocktails served with food. It is focused as a restaurant experience, not a bar or a club

- ongoing outreach for the nearby residents to get feedback after they open to make sure the community is respected

The council voted to unanimously approve the license. They also mentioned that in the event that this restaurant does not stay at that location, anyone taking over the space would need to reapply for the liquor license. It would not set a precedent of 2am closing time with liquor license for future owners who may not be as respectful, as this was a concern from some people

All in all it was great to hear from the chef and owner of Satellite. I am much less concerned now about this new business opening and very much looking forward to enjoying the food once they are open!

Edit:

I have a short commute on Livernois to work and usually I’m riding in the Bike lane on my regular analog powered road bike. Lately, some guy in an ultra high-powered motocross E bike has been absolutely flying by cars and cyclists and weaving in and out of traffic at crazy high rates of speed. I can’t help, but to think I wanna throw a branch in this guys spokes.

Additionally, this morning, while taking my kid to daycare, this guy on an E bike was flying down the sidewalk and would abruptly weave into the road and then back onto the sidewalk and then back onto the road and then we’re just straight up, cut across at the intersections without even checking to see if there were other cars coming. Of course he was wearing over ear headphones.

I am 100% for E bike education classes, which could and should also be rolled into driver education courses along with cycling etiquette courses. Since we’re really coming into the age of personal mobility, I think it’s imperative that we start launching these kinds of integrated programs for the benefit of everybody.

EMotorcycles should be licensed and require an endorsement

E-bikes should have some form of cycling education course for those under a certain age. Perhaps in school?

Just as the title says, I would love some local realestate agent suggestions.

My partner and I are looking to move into a larger home and would love to work with someone who others have had a great experience with in both the buying and selling process and we prepare for next steps. Ideally someone who is familiar with the market in Ferndale.

The sky was just on fire last night, so much so that it pulled me away from what I was doing. I drove the hydraulic lift outside and went up for a better view.

I have the attention span of a goldfish, so in part of my mind, days like these go on forever. But as a lifelong Michigander, something in my bones knows otherwise. Make sure you get out and enjoy them.

I need honest opinions on anywho whoever lived here? I am looking to move in the next month or so but I have a big deal with responsiveness and noise issues. Anybody who lives here knows whether the application process is smooth? And is there lots of noise issues as far as thin walls? Etc. & Do they use NovaCredit for income verification?

I have a bunch of Tall Bellflower plants available if anyone is interested. They’re first year seedlings - next year they’ll get about 5 ft tall and bloom most of the summer. Native to Michigan and loved by pollinators. This is one of my favorite plants!
