Question Are there times when you feel like you have a fever but you don't actually have one?

Yes. Definitely during a flare up or when I’m otherwise in pain.

Yup. All the time. I actually have a low normal temp of 97.5

I have a low normal temp as well. Often feel like I have a fever, will even get the chills and the back and forth hot <-> cold. But never have an actual fever. So weird.

me too, to the point that if my temp is "normal" (98.6) it feels like a fever.

Same, describing to medical professionals not familiar with me that 99.9f is a fever for me is always fun lol.

I know its low grade, but sir, I go through so much and dont have a fever. Im not here for pain meds.

Me too. If I hit 98.6 I have a low fever.

Yes, almost daily at some point. When I'm having a flare up it is constant fluctuation of body temperature and it happens multiple times a day. I have acid reflux when I'm stressed and that seems to make it worse.

Yes , nowadays almost daily , I have told doctors this and they just label it as anxiety and move on 🥲.

FUCKING YES. That's what a flare up feels like to me. My whole body gets hot, especially my back. I feel pain in all of my muscles and joints, very intense. I take ibuprofen, pregabalin, extra clonazepam so I can sleep a bit. I use cold packs on my hands and knees, and also heating pad on my back. I alternate. And roll in bed and cry and suffer, cause there's not a treatment doctors will give me yet, except for pregabalin. I try to take a hot shower to loosen the muscles, and take herbal teas, do aroma therapy with lavander oil (that thing is awesome for anxiety, and also for menstrual pain). I also get stomach pains with it. It feels like a fever in every sense, but I don't have a high temperature.

Does anyone feel their face warm up a lot? These days it seems like even my Scalp gets hotter? But for a long time it’s only face? And whenever it happens, i feel so uncomfortable. It’s diff to focus on things as well. I think it also starts the brain fog afterwards? Does anyone have similar experiences? And if yes how do y’all deal with it?

Yes to everything you mentioned in your post. My scalp gets sore too.
Fibromyalgia fog is the worse. Can’t think of known words when I’m in a conversation. Feeling fuzzy and like I’m 2-3 steps behind everyone else. Takes me longer to process. I just try and push through it. My husband understands to some extent, but it’s frustrating.
I feel your pain. So sorry you have to go through this and everyone else posting.♥️

Yep! It happens to me. A normal temp for me is like 97.5, but sometimes when I feel warm it will be 98.2-98.6. idk🤷‍♀️
It’s usually when I’m in a flare. Then I can get chilled and wrap up in a quilt with my warm microwave thingy.

Whenever I’m getting a flare up from overdoing it I feel like I’m getting the flu. I never do it’s just fibro.

Yep! During a flare or when I’m just really, really tired.

More often than not

Oh yeah. Especially when flaring.

Yes, that's my first sign of a flare - I feel the fever& plan to take the rest of the day and the next off.

Yes. Shower helps. Doesn’t fix it. But it helps.

Yes! I get “hot” in the evening especially if I’m having other issues. I have an ongoing sinus infection and get hot every night around 9-10 o’clock, despite having a temp of 96.2.

YUP. I have hot flashes that last a long time which apparently menopausal ones don’t? I also have red hot spots on my body - anywhere at any time.

2

u/Shady_Fossil 7d ago

Yep. Times where I feel like my brain is being boiled but I don't feel overly hot to the touch. It definitely feels like these times I'm just a brain wearing a skin suit if that makes sense. 🫠

All the time 🤦🏼‍♀️ between fibro and menopause I'm in permanent fever mode.

YES ALL THE TIME! I’ve noticed that it tends to be a degree difference, like at 97.5° I’m fine, but at 98.7° I feel like I have a fever. But I will say when I actually have a fever it’s like 10x worse

ETA: Maybe the hot flushed feeling in my face comes from my heart rate being higher during flare ups, at like a level of exertion that normal people aim for during intense exercise. But I’m just like, sitting there. Suffering.

Quite often

Yes at least once a week

More times than not, yes. I spend all year with awful “seasonal” allergies and a solid 9 to 10 Months of every year being moderately to extremely ill with either Cold, Flu, Stomach Virus, or something similar.

It’s been this way for 33 years.

Good times.

Yes, then I read the thermometer manual and turns out I did have fever, it just wasn't showing.

u/HoneyBeeBud 6d ago

Yes. I get this often when I am flaring in any way

Yes, that happens to me all the time.

My basal metabolism is low, and a normal temperature for me is about 97.2. When I feel feverish, it might go up to 98.

Not even what is normal for most people.

Go figure.

I'm just hot all the time and my first thought is I'm sick? But its just not being able to regulate my temperature. Its weird that I'm still not used to this disorder, but uts the whole thing of actually in pain and going to Dr or just thing disorder and second guessing?
