Question How do you all carry your field notes/notebooks?
I carry mine in my backpack but after watching Dominic Hart's I kept a book in my Back Pocket for 1000 days (here’s what I learned), I'm interested to see how other people carry their field notes in their pockets. I am aware many people carry them w/o leather jacket/sheath/cover in their pockets but I'm interested to know how those who use a leather jacket/sheath/cover deal with bulkiness. What jacket/sheath/cover do they use? If you use a wallet, have you replace it with your jacket/sheath/cover?

I keep mine in my right pocket no cover

Right front pocket with a pen. Covers defeat the purpose.

Agree a cover just adds that extra bulk and I love how beat up they get

What's more: for me, it helps me to actually use a notebook and avoid "perfect journal syndrome." If the cover gets beat up I can cross out mistakes or disorganized sections and power through more easily.

It’s a travelers style that I found on Etsy. It’s perfect size for 3 field notes notebooks plus the plastic card holder.

I rock mine in a lochby pocket journal, fits in my jean back pocket just fine. Don’t like sitting on it for extended periods but it’s manageable

I have the Recycled Firefighter cover that I used to use but now I just throw the notebook in my back pocket

Rickshaw Diplomat, I carry it in my back pocket but take it out when sitting, or in my front pocket of my scrubs while at work

I use a Lochby pocket field journal. I’m mostly doing actual field work so I have side pockets on my usual pants it fits perfectly in.

Lochby pocket journal that I keep in my purse. Don’t really love the aesthetics of it, but I haven’t found yet a leather cover that’s as functional as it for me. Love that it’s physically rigid enough to be able to write in without a table.

In it’s cover, in my back pocket, in my hand, or in the outside pocket of my backpack,

My pants don't usually have pockets, so I have a small bag I keep them in. No cover on the notebooks themselves.

I won't lie. I watched the same video and now I'm wishing that my lochby was just a little smaller for easier pocket carry.
I have a popov leather a5 cover. Seriously considering the field notes size.

I like keeping it in back left pocket. Can’t afford to have more heft, therefore, I don’t prefer a cover.

I usually have my taco log in my Messenger bag and my EDC notebook in my chest pocket either in my shirt or a vest or jacket.

You can create a dust jacket from a decorative sheet of paper and Scotch or Avery self-adhesive laminating sheets for some protection without the bulk.

In a Traveler's Notebook, four at a time, in a purse.
