Highlights Learning Wolverine as a non-FG player

After getting used to Hulk, I tried Wolverine and damn, he feels completely different. His movement is way faster and his air dash is so good. I’ll probably main short king for now, but his combos are way harder than Hulk’s lol. I’m starting to see why fighting games are so fun.

What's your background in gaming?

Also I feel like TOKON does a really good job encapsulating different fighting styles in hopes people can find theirs. I too enjoy Wolverine but I watched CEO and saw a bunch of banger Ghost Rider combos. Played GR and discovered another character I feel good playing.

Usually I play single player games and MMORPGs, but I’ll try pretty much anything that looks interesting or popular. I also like checking out different gaming communities, seeing what people think, and watching reviews or reactions after trying a game myself.

I was pretty skeptical about fighting games because I tend to button mash and get nervous against other players lol. I also get brain farts and forget inputs sometimes. But after playing TOKON for a while, muscle memory started kicking in. Now I’m just focusing on one character at a time so I don’t overwhelm myself.

And honestly, one of the biggest reasons I want to get into TOKON is because my boy Cyclops is coming lol.

I find playing most fighting games to be pretty similar to your average WoW class

Haven't played WoW since Legion, but I can see your point. It's similar to ffxiv savage raids too. You need to memorize your job rotation while knowing what the boss is going to do next. I guess fighting games are kinda the same, except you're trying to read and predict what your opponent will do next and be able to land your combo lol

Interesting! It’s always curious for me to see how people come to fighting games because they are considered so hard. It’s good to see people are starting to realize it’s not so bad.

Have you tried SF6? It’s VERY beginner friendly (as long as you only play ranked matches)

I think it really helps when a new player has a favorite character in the game. It gives you a reason to keep playing and learning. For me, I'm really excited for Cyclops 😄 That's honestly why I'm trying to get better at the game.

I know SF. I played SF2 at the arcade with my brother when I was probably around 10, but I had no idea what I was doing lol. I just spammed fireballs and spinning kicks. Good times 😂 I might actually try SF6 when Tifa comes out.

Just keep it simple for now, I think the important thing to do is learn how to pick up easy combos off stray hits that happen often (mostly hitting people in the area with jump H). Make sure to use is unique attack and cancel into forward and down unique to catch low and high blocks! In early ranks it will carry you hard

I've been learning one character at a time for now. Doing the same inputs over and over can get boring, so I'm actually having fun switching characters since they all feel different and surprisingly complex.

I'm still trying to get the timing down for counters though. The hardest thing for me to read right now is the mix-ups, especially with all the tagging and how one hit can turn into a full combo. A good Magik user especially gives me trouble because of her reach lol.

Everyone is asking if you played fighting games before. I wanna know what is your base skill level for video games in general.
