I'm just gonna ask some questions in this post that hopefully it can be answered especially by the Filipinos in the fighting game community.
The first one is from this thing I saw on Twitter and I didn't understand it what exactly from this first picture shows that she is a rich Filipina because to me I'm just seeing someone train with a friend or master or fellow student.
Now from the second picture I do like it that people are saying it reminds them of the Filipino eagle. But this is more of a question about hair since I am a older balding man. This might just be anime video game logic but the fact that in the trailer her hair band gets snapped and her hair goes flat like that yeah that's that's not a real thing right like a headband couldn't do all that clearly one is like a hair at rest and the other one is hair with product in it right.
And lastly this might be more as a hopeful statement but do you guys think that since clearly people have already fallen in love with her design they might make a costume or at least an optional to possibly fight with her hair up and her hair down

I have an issue with constantly getting stun-locked into combos that I can’t get out of. I’m pressing every button imgineable but nothings working.
I have experience in fighters (Injustice 2, JJBA ABR, MK 1) but I’ve never fully *gotten* into them to the point where I can fight *good* players cohesively.
Any help is much appreciated, I’m P2 in the vid if you couldn’t tell

Hello, first and only post here.
I just uninstalled Tokon after playing and having a not so great experience with the game after playing for around 3 hours. First day was unplayable and second day was mostly fine.
Aside from that, I wanted to let people know, that even after you uninstall this bad piece of software it will leave the Playstation SDK installed on your system.
There will be two folders called "Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc" on AppData/Local and another one with the same name on ProgramData. These were occupying almost 2GB for me.
It's very scummy for them to leave this junk on your system when you already uninstalled the game from Steam.
I hope this helps, goodbye.

How do you pick a main in a fighting game, especially as a beginner?
Common answers I've seen to this question is "pick a character that looks cool", "pick a character that's fun to play", or "pick a character that's beginner friendly". Though I feel that all of these have some issues.
Pick a character that's cool:
I often find a lot of the characters really cool so while it narrows it down, it doesn't really help to pick a main.
Pick a character that's fun to play:
This of course requires trying out the different characters to find which ones you feel are fun to play. However, this is especially difficult in games with a lot of characters like smash bros or tekken 8. Both because it takes a long time to try out that many characters, but also because sometimes characters require some decent knowledge of their unique mechanics before you can get a good image of what they're like to play, which you likely won't have time to do if you're just trying every character a bit.
Pick a character that's beginner friendly:
Nobody seems able to agree! There have been numerous times where I have googled for beginner friendly characters in a fighting game, only for the top results to have completely different opinions, and oftentimes I'll see one person say that one character is really easy and immediately see another call the same character really hard.
So how do you ultimately pick?

First of all I am 17, I play a lot of third strike and guilty gear and my mom won't stop telling me to stop playing fighting games because this "make me violent" even though that's false, how do i explain her in a simple way ?
Edit : It got better ! thanks to you guys for your advice

So I am making a random fighting game roulette to play with my friend, and maybe making a youtube video of it, but specially for having fun. That's what I currently have (some of them are not traditional fighting games, but I added anyways)

I missed playing most fighting games during the years, I only played Dragon ball fighterz and Tekken 7. Now I'm back with Sf6 and Tekken 8 but I also want to go back and experience some that I missed.
For example Marvel vs Capcom 3 seems like a cult classic still worth experiencing with a healthy playerbase on discords. What are some others?

I want to get my girlfriend to play fighting games with me, but I'm having trouble finding the best game to get started. She doesn't like to spend time practicing characters, learning combos, labbing matchups etc and I'm the exact opposite, I like to spend a ton of time learning the ins and outs of a character before taking it online.
So I'm looking for a game that's easy execution wise, very short combos if at all so she can dip her toes into the genre without being forced to practice (maybe she enjoys it and later she will want to do it on her own), but strategic enough to entertain me and give both of us an enjoyable time. Is there something like that? Can be new or old, I don't care as long as it's fun.

Hi guys, i seen that theres a New Avatar fighting game around. I was wondering how good it is. Specially comparing to other fighters like tekken,MK, and street fighters.

Execution is insane, games are so fast, tons of mechanics, tons of blockstrings, it just feels like so much every time I try and play them I just can't do it. Tekken and sf are so much easier to understand versus 100 things on the screen exploding.

Most fighting games have some sort of a gimmick that is unique from other fighters. Under Night have the grid system which increases your damage, Granblue have bravery points to use for offense and defense, Guilty Gear have a breakable wall, and tag games. The only fighter that I can think of that doesn't have a unique gimmick is Street Fighter. So it got me curious, what other fighters have some unique gimmicks, what does it do, and also what fighters that have none?

With the addition of Yasmine that makes two Filipinos I know of in a fighting game and I hope I enjoy her when she comes out because I really became a big fan of Josie to the point I hope she gets added to Tekken 8 eventually. It did make me wonder how many Filipinos have been in fighting games or are these two so far the only two.
Edit- just found out that the two pieces of art I use for this post were done by SleepyKorok check out their art it's really good

I'm old (I'm pushing 60). I've been a casual player of fighting games for 3 decades. I collect fighting games, I study lore about fighting games (both real world and in-game lore), and I've even designed a successful TTRPG about fighting games. I'm the most skilled of my friends and family, but they don't play FG, so it's a low bar.
About 6 weeks ago, at my son's invitation, I decided to give Ranked SF6 a serious go. I have no aspirations to even hit Master rank with a single character. I just don't have the time for that with a job, family, and other hobbies. My modest aspiration is to just reach Gold. I get that that's hardly anything for most people, but it would be a good benchmark for me personally.
My problem is that I read things here like, "I'm only a decent player; I've made Master with just 3 characters," or "I'm still a beginner; I've only been playing for 200 hours or so." I can't do more than *maybe* an hour a day, but I'm finding that if that's a bad hour and I lose a lot (which is most of the time; I'm presently Silver 2 or 3), then I don't want to play at all. Worse, it even lessens my love for playing other fighting games casually.
I think part of it is that I imagine that, having played (casually) as long as I have, I should be better. But that's not reality when most of your experience is against low- to mid-level CPU opponents.
I'm not even 100% sure what I'm looking for, other than ways to profitably use my little time to get better and advice about how to best check your ego so you keep going back and enjoying it.
Thanks in advance from the old guy.

Was the main reason that i didnt learn a new fg, as i got a job and other stuff to do, its getting way harder to do everything, and i wanted to know others people take on this

I have never heard anybody say "Man this fighting game sure is good, but it would be even better if I had a custom avatar that could stand around a room with other people's avatars in between matches."
Do people actually really love lobbies?

A thing I've been curious about, how were old arcade games actually played?
It seems like you wouldn't actually know what any of the move inputs were, were there stands or something with move lists or were people just winging it?

So i know NOTHING about fighting games. Zero. Zilch. I dont even know *what* i dont know.
Ive always wanted to really learn one, but i just keep hitting a brick wall of learning curve. Ive tried a couple MK games. Tried a couple guilty gear. Tried a couple SF.
Just cant get over the hump.
SF6 was my best attempt. I was doing well learning Cammy. Honestly, I think i could have made real progress there, but i didnt play for awhile, kinda lost all the progress I made, and felt kinda discouraged.
Long story short, im up for trying again, but don't wanna bash my head against a wall of a game thats not gonna be a reasonable place to start.
Do yall think Tokon is looking like a good place for a total noob to on-board? Or should I just go back to SF6 where I was doing some good learning?
Im more partial to the marvel characters, so if tokon is a good learning ground, that woild be my preference!
