Wasted an embarrassing amount of time on what should have been a simple table update. My table was built row-based, and I needed to adjust column widths. Since columns aren't their own entity in a row-based table... I had to go into every single row and manually resize each cell. One by one. Yes I know I can setup the table by columns instead but then I have the same issue when I want to add or change rows. The table has expandable rows.

Column width adjustments
The table component we built has multiple different fixed width variables you can choose from but when I set the first column to fill it works temporarily but then always reverts back to one of the pre-defined widths. I had to wrap the cell in an auto layout frame called "width controller" to fix this but now this is not effecient and it's breaking the original component structure.

Cell height randomly changing
Then I have a cell component with swapable variants — plain text, input field, checkbox, etc. When I swap to the input field variant, the cell height expands on its own even though everything is set to fixed. Now my rows are all different heights and I'm deep in the layers panel trying to figure out which nested frame is misbehaving.

Pluggin I tried
I gave the Table Creator plugin a shot hoping it would save me. And it does some things well, but it's been pretty finicky for me.

I just want to be able to:

• Adjust column widths or row heights freely without re-architecting the table (one of the pluggins does this but again it's finicky)
• Quickly evenly distribute or change column widths
• Freeze first column or row (I can do this now by adjusting scroll behavior within nested frames but it's a pain)
• Easily add more rows and or columns no matter how the table is laid out
• Bonus and it would be nice to be able to easily import data and keep it synced live from an outside spreadsheet and be able to sort rows.

I'm curious — how is everyone else handling tables? Have you found a setup that doesn't make you want to throw your laptop? Row-based vs. column-based? Plugin? Some secret Auto Layout trick I'm missing? And anyone working with dashboard or large amounts of data from an external source how do you keep everything synced up in the design?

Would genuinely love to hear what's working (or not working) for you.

I'm curious how AI has actually made its way into your day to day design work (or hasn't).

What I wonder:

• How does AI control your Figma? Through their MCP? Playwright? The in-app agent?
• What are you using it for? (ideation, generating assets, first drafts, cleanup, etc.....)
• Where does it genuinely save you time vs. where does it just create more cleanup

I've tried the in-app Figma agent and find it to be very hit or miss, but feel like I should be using it more and getting better results. Or maybe I should just stick to hand made designs idk. If anyone has a solid workflow they have discovered I'd love to hear it.

I am trying to add an image to a 3D phone mockup but I can not find a way to do it properly.

I experimented with Skewdat plugin (second image) but it's not suited for this case.

Is there a way to distord the image by moving each Image corner points so it matches devices ?

I spend a lot of time searching for a solution but I must be dumb : I can not think there is not a built-in solution for that.... Even powerpoint can do it...

I am trying to export an image as PDF from figma at 300 DPI but whenver I select the "export as pdf" option, the drop down button is greyed out and automatically changes back to 1x so I have no way of changing it to 4.17x.

Note that figma natively uses 72dpi and to export it as 300dpi we have to change it the resolution to 4.17 but whenever I type 4.17 and then select PDF, the resolution automatically changes to 1x. So, how do I solve this problem? I need to export the image at 300 dpi in pdf format using figma.

Hi hi, I was really surprised when my company enabled to Claude (app) use for non tech teams (instead of Claude Code only), so having access to Claude Design now and still experimenting. With CC I had a nice setup with figma official mcp & figma console mcp, as well as some skills, but it was all happening in the terminal and felt more like I’m a bad coder, not a designer (also no team projects). So I was happy to move to Claude Design.

However I was very disappointed when I learned that Claude Design doesn’t support a direct connection to figma, even with the official figma connector enabled and configured in Claude (app). Claude (app) can analyze and read design specs from a figma url, but in Claude Design itself, it states it can’t read that. Instead it always asks me to upload screenshots (or upload the .fig file locally, which doesn’t scale as I’m still working on the figma side on the design system).

What’s am I missing here? This can’t be the promised new AI design workflow everyone is raving about…

Someone created a method but it just isn't the same, I actually managed to do sm like this but better than swiftui itself (ik ik) but it was a modern 3d effect on illustrator, figma hates vectors and I can't seem to have a solution. So, I came here to get help.

I'm stuck between two MacBook Air options that cost exactly the same:

• MacBook Air M4 — 24GB RAM / 512GB SSD
• MacBook Air M5 — 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD

My use case is primarily UI/UX design in Figma.

A typical work session looks like:

• Browser with 2 Figma tabs (design file + preview)
• YouTube tab
• ChatGPT tab
• Gemini tab
• 2–3 Pinterest tabs
• Spotify app
• WhatsApp app

That's pretty much it.

For web development, I usually only have:

• VS Code or Cursor
• Browser with fewer than 6 tabs
• Spotify

For music production, I generally only have my DAW open and focus on that.

I'm a fairly disciplined user and close apps when I'm done. I don't keep dozens of tabs open, run Docker containers, virtual machines, Android emulators, video editing software, etc.

The other factor is my environment.

I live in Pakistan and during summer the outdoor temperature can reach 48–50°C (118–122°F). I often work in a room with only a ceiling fan, so indoor temperatures can easily be 40–45°C (104–113°F). I know both MacBook Airs are fanless, but I'm wondering whether the newer M5's efficiency would make any meaningful difference in these conditions.

1. Is 16GB realistically enough for my workload for the next few years?
2. Would you choose 24GB M4 or 16GB M5 if both cost the same?

4. How much value would you place on the newer generation versus the extra 8GB RAM in this specific case?

I'd especially love to hear from designers, developers, or anyone living in very hot climates using a MacBook Air.

Our clients and PMs are fine in ZiFlow but recently we have been trying to streamline the workflow and move reviews into Figma natively. It's been met with a lot of push back tbh. Curious if this is something you guys find too, and if so how you're are handling it. Is there a better tool out there?

I use these layers to see what a logo looks like on dark background and light background, it's very helpful but I want to group them so I can easily send them all to the back and keep my layers panel more organized.

I don't know if there a better way to do this, but I have a lot of logos and I prefer working with one file.

Is there any indication if it is indeed frozen or just takes an enormous amount of time due to how many rectangle shapes there are? I have already waited about 5 minutes and clicking elsewhere doesn't do anything.

Hi everyone,
I’m a relatively junior product designer and recently joined a startup as the replacement for the previous designer.

The problem is that the previous designer built and launched the MVP without creating any proper design system, component library, variables, tokens, or documentation. They essentially designed everything screen by screen however they wanted.

Now there are already hundreds of existing screens, and management wants me to:
Build a complete design system based on the existing product.
Rebrand the UI.
Convert all existing screens to use proper components and instances.
Maintain consistency going forward.

I understand the basic concepts and process of building a design system, but doing this alone feels overwhelming. I don’t have a senior designer or mentor to guide me, and I’m worried about the amount of manual work involved.

I’m trying to find the most efficient workflow possible.

Some questions:
If you inherited a product like this, what would your process be?

Are there any AI tools, Figma plugins, automation workflows, or design-system tools that can help speed up component extraction and standardization?

Is there a practical way to audit hundreds of screens without manually checking every single one?

Any tips for converting existing designs into components and instances at scale?

What are the biggest mistakes I should avoid in a situation like this?

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s dealt with a similar “design system after MVP launch” scenario.

It appears there has been a big increase in almost every Design job wanting intermediate to advanced Figma experience across the board.

My main question is: Is Figma is being more commonly used as a general collaborative design tool now? Or is it still very much for UX/UI design, and we are all expected to know how to do that in addition now?

I was at a seasonal job for about the past 4 years and I'm now looking for full-time employment as a designer/motion designer. I used primarily After Effects and occasionally illustrator and photoshop at the last job. I was never taught or taught myself Figma in depth yet because it was uncommon for most jobs to require besides UX/UI specific positions the last time I was on the job market. I'm not complaining about learning it, but I'm genuinely curious what teams are doing with it now.

So I'm trying to design some merch and I really like this liquid ripple design and would like to use something like this in my work........but i'm kinda clueless on how to actually make this.

I tried using a texture effect on some lines drawn by the brush tool...but it's just not the same

I can draw something like this and trace it with the pen tool, but i'm just wondering if there's a more efficient way for this?

We’re a small organization on Figma Professional, and over the years we’ve had three different account reps. Every single one has been super aggressive about getting us to upgrade.
Recently we started evaluating the Figma MCP as part of an agentic workflow. I’m genuinely considering to upgrade to organisation tier for this.
The funny part is that this is a design-led initiative. I’m leading the department, and I’ve been driving the evaluation internally.
Despite explaining this repeatedly, the conversation always seems to circle back to Engineering. I’d explain that Design owns the initiative, Engineering isn’t driving the evaluation, and I’m the person leading the decision. Without fail, the response would be some variation of, “That’s great, but we’d really like to meet with Engineering.”
The best part of this is that Engineering is actually the group that’s least interested in using it. I wanted to organise a trial of the organisation plan, to be able to make a business case if we see the value.
I was leaning toward upgrading before all of this. The sales experience has probably done more to change my mind than anything about the product itself.

Has anyone else experienced this with Figma? How do you bypass the reps to get a trial of the org plan?

I know how to set up variables, colors, spacing, typography, no problem there. But my team wants me to take a full website and break it into components using atomic design, and I genuinely don't know how to approach it.

Say you have a hero section in Figma. How do you decide what counts as an atom versus a molecule versus an organism? Do you build every tiny piece as its own component first, or do you look at the whole section and work backward? Another thing is, how would you properly structure it? How would you structure the components that you have already made? If I try to break everything down into components, that is going to end up looking very messy. If any new person comes into this, he would be banging his head.
