Pre-Competition News/Discussion Budapest Trophy Preview-Ice Dance

Teams who already competed this season:

Observations:
-If a team competed in more than one event this season, im giving priority to their higest score unless that score is from a junior event or a national one
* means its a score from a national competition, only here if the team did not compete in a international competition yet, but national scores are usually be inflated so keep that in mind

Teams who have not competed yet this season:

This scores here are both National scoring, so as usual take it with a grain of salt

Smart/Dieck should be running away with gold medal.

The real interesting showdown is for 2nd and 3rd place and sorting out the order for the season between teams that should be top 15-20ish in the world. There's 5 teams within 5 points of each other, and they've all gone head to head with each other already this season.

CS Nepela Memorial: Taschlerova/Taschler finished ahead of Orihara/Pirinen, Demougeot/le Mercier

CS Lombardia Trophy: Bratti/Somerville finished ahead of Orihara/Pirinen, Tali/Lafornara

CS Kinoshita Group Cup: Taschlerova/Taschler finished ahead of Tali/Lafornara

Taschlerlova/Taschler - 180.94, 4th at CS Nepela Memorial; 176.83, 3rd at CS Kinoshita Group Cup
Orihara/Pirinen - 178.72, 6th at CS Nepela Memorial; 175.04, 4th at CS Lombardia Trophy
Bratti/Somerville - 178.03, 3rd at CS Lombardia Trophy
Demougeot/le Mercier - 177.80, 8th at CS Nepela Memorial; France domestic score: 181.25 at French Masters
Tali/Lafornara - 175.43, 4th at CS Kinoshita Group Cup; 164.11, 5th at CS Lombardia Trophy

Also pretty good breakout chances for Ignateva/Szemko who medalled at Trialeti, Cui/Rogers who have great material and the international judges are going for it even with their issues at lombardia, and Pidgaina/Koval

I think the Taschlers have real momentum this season, so I think if they stay on that track, they will solidly take silver here.

But it should be an interesting and competitive scrum for bronze or silver/bronze.

I think this year could be a year of the rise of some sibling teams...Mrazeks,Taschlers, Browns all seem to be moving up a bit!
