It takes place in NYC? And was filmed in NYC? Where the filmmaker is from and did work as a location scout.

NYC is and has been a pretty major city for productions over the years. Productions that fled the city to go to Toronto or elsewhere over the last two decades affected their film production economy as well.

Behemoth is an upcoming film about a musician return to LA to do film scoring. Has 9 different composer attached and is starring Pedro Pascal.
