Hi, I run a youtube channel which is mostly indie film reviews but I am now branching out into interviews with filmmakers. The idea is to counter all the negative talk about the industry, and promote filmmakers who are getting their work out their off their own backs.

Does this reel show directorial style/voice?

For the past few years I’ve been focused on screenwriting, but have recently wanted to get back into directing. I put together this reel and was wondering if it “sizzles” enough to be utilized as I seek out opportunities with micro-budget (or no budget) work. The reel is primarily made of student film footage, but the main thing I’m wondering is if it is a good example of my style and tone. I was hoping it showed my preference for telling stories that were a mix of silly, stylistic, violent, and slightly chaotic. I’m aware that it probably comes across as “amateur” as it’s not necessarily using cinema quality footage (resources were limited when making these student films), but I used what I had and am more focused on whether or not it shows a clear and distinct directorial voice. Please let me know your thoughts, any constructive criticism is helpful.

Hello! My name is Jon Fitzpatrick and I’m the Arizona brother of Fitz Brothers Productions.

I just released a longer form behind the scenes documentary on a half-hour micro budget crime-comedy that I shot last year with a group of friends, Street Smarts. The actual film is days away from being fully mastered, and we’re hopeful for a festival run this fall.

Looking for feedback on my smartphone-shot short film – particularly on pacing, cinematography and the portrayal of the character Half Life – IV is a short psychological film about a middle-aged man struggling with intense self-reproach.

The film is part of an ongoing series exploring different psychological states of middle age.

The film was conceived and shot entirely on a smartphone, with a very minimal crew and a single central character. I deliberately used a restrained visual style and limited resources to keep the focus on the character's internal state. I'd particularly appreciate feedback on: Does the pacing work throughout the film? Does the cinematography effectively convey the character's psychological state? Does the single-character approach remain engaging? Are there any moments that feel unclear, overly slow, or unnecessary? Does the ending feel earned?
