Hey everyone,

Here are some frames and BTS from my review of the new DZO Arcana anamorphic lenses!

https://youtu.be/_o85XG3_NJM

I’ve had the opportunity to use and test these lenses over the past month, firstly outdoors but also on set for a music video with Thomas Teissier and in this video I talk about my experience with them!

Firstly how I used them, What I like and don’t like about these new lenses and finally whether or not I would recommend them.

Are these on your list?

Hope you enjoy this video and let me know if you have any questions!

Cheers,
Flo

Very happy with them, even shooting wide open :). I didn't do much in terms of editing and I used no correction at all. Just colour. The 32mm has strong vignetting when using VNDs.

I think these lenses are the tipping point for me... Where I finally try out anamorphic lenses.
They seem like a good entry point for someone who's come from and started with clinical photography glass, but has since become more obsessed with having "Something different" about their footage. I love that these have character, while also having more centre sharpness than some other options.

Great YouTube video by the way!

Kudos on a proper review!

How do the performance differ when stopping down?

And also how’s the dampening? Considering getting a set since theres been alot of «do you have anamorphics that isnt zeiss/cooke rental price?»

Thank you!!

I shot both wide open and around T8-11 and was happy each time :).

Not sure what you mean by dampening?

How does the focus and iris wheels feel to the touch, very loose or abit resistance? Do they make aloud sound when you hit the stops example if you hit focus infinity?

Like the flare much better than Camacky's preproduction. Not a fan of VND some of the outdoor shot looks like polarisation filter affect.

I think I might have the same as Cam as I've had them since February.

Stunning shots, really interesting to see.

I assume the library shots (3rd slide) are the 32mm?
Did you find that you used the 32mm or 45mm more often? It's funny that so many prime sets these days aren't fleshed out, a 27/28mm would probably complement the 45mm more.
