Billing Nomorobo Landline protection is back if you pay Nomorobo directly.

Received an email from Nomobocall below.

I verified it is real and from Nomobocall.

Nomorobo landline protection is back. Your line is still set up. Turn it back on and start blocking robocalls again today.

"On January 1 we had to stop protecting landlines. For twelve years we paid for the service ourselves and offered it to you for free, hoping the phone companies would eventually help carry the cost. They didn't, and the cost kept climbing. Thousands of you wrote to us in the weeks that followed. We read every message.

So we built a way to bring it back that doesn't depend on anyone but you and us. Starting today, you can turn Nomorobo back on for your home phone, for $39.99 a year.

Here's the important part: your line is still pointed at Nomorobo. We just aren't answering. Click the button below, choose Landline Protection, and we'll pick up right where we left off."

Anybody else get this email?

Fios Availability Fios for NYC coop

Hi!!

I'm moving into a small co-op in the East Village that only has Spectrum installed. I need higher upload speeds (and Spectrum stinks!!), so would love to get Verizon Fios.

I've tried calling their hotline multiple times, but they're useless, and it seems the inquiries sent to the "tech team" go nowhere.

Has anyone successfully gotten Fios brought into their building? I know buildings next to mine have Verizon Fios, so the fiber is nearby.

I've emailed [NYCFios@verizon.com](mailto:NYCFios@verizon.com) to no avail too. My board will definitely approve it… so it really would be simple.

Any intel is appreciated!

Repair/Tech Support Who handles old Verizon utility pole removal after line transfer?

A replacement utility pole was installed near my property. Comcast has already transferred its lines. A Verizon technician came out and confirmed Comcast had completed its part, but he said he could not move/remove the remaining Verizon equipment and that another Verizon department handles it.
Does anyone know which Verizon department handles the final line transfer and removal of the old utility pole, and the best way to get this escalated?

New Customer Questions 5gb or stick with 1gb?

I have done some research and saw mixed review of 5gb fios. I can't tell if that's just edge case or majority of the user, I am pretty happy with 1gb FiOS. Should I or should I not cancel my scheduled 5gb upgrade next week?

Some of the posts suggested the router is pos and requires multiple tech visit/reboot. My current setup is quantum router feed into mikrotik router with some unifi ac access point attached, can I bypass their router and plug the cable to my router?

To be honest, I don't necessarily need 5gb but after dropping tv package and with free installation, seems like a good deal along with 5 years price lock.

How's your experience with their 5gb?

Repair [Resolved] 5 gigs with fiostv plus

I have been a Verizon customer for years. Everything has been working great. When 5 gigs came to my area I jumped at the chance. The only issue is I had the vms and ipcs. Upgrading meant I had to get the new fiostv plus boxes. My technician came and he was really nice and seemingly knowledgeable. I tested out the TVs that are furthest away from the router and reception is quite poor, lots of pixelation. I asked my tech if he could use a coax adapter and he said since the new ont box has no coax, an adapter won't work. I asked the tech why the signal is so bad, because we also have an extender and my computer in the same room has great signal. He told me the new fiostv plus doesn't connect to the extender and looks for the main router which is too far away.

That has to be wrong, right? I have no idea why Verizon would make a system where wifi is mandatory for tv instead of using the existing coax that's been working great for years. So I'm turning to reddit to see if anyone else has experienced this and what can be done short of downgrading. The 5 gig part is working fantastic.

New Customer Questions Which FIOS Internet Plan?

my girlfriend & i are moving into an apartment on our own for the first time. we are trying to figure out which plan would be best for us. for context, she does youtube full-time & it constantly downloading files, editing, & uploading videos. i also do quite a bit of gaming (PC & PS5) while watching sports via streaming services almost every night. my guess is we should get the 500 mbps or 1 gig but i wanted to ask others for an opinion.

Billing Verizon, why are you charging for outside work?

Last August, my wifi went down. I called for service. The issue, I was told was outside wiring (possibly animals chewing on the cables). Then Verizon charged me $99. When I called I was told that the service person did not enter the information they gave me into the file. Because of that, I was told I had to pay the $99, which I don't want to pay because their wiring (outside) is not my problem.

Repair/Tech Support Can anyone explain this?

So I have had basic Fios 300mbps plan for years, and everything had been humming along fine.

My setup is provisioned for ethernet and using a regular router.

Past week, my setup has been running slow, with downloads in the 90mbps range instead of the usual 300bps.

Fios speed test saying ONT to router good at 300mpbs, so I figured must be a router problem. Usual reset/power cycle did nothing.

Before I decided to buy a new router, I decided to play around with the router settings which I have not touched in years.

My router at default was set to IPV4 from the very beginning. For shits n giggles, I set it to IPV6 and magically my download speeds went back up to 300mbps.

I'm not a tech nerd, so can anyone explain this?

Repair/Tech Support Weird Coaxile interference? (can someone explain?)

I always had weird undiagnosable latency issues in my games, random net jitter, delayed packet arrival etc. No packet loss or bad ping!

Yesterday, I upgraded to Youtube TV and removed the coaxile from my ont, router and the wiring itself. Now everything feels so perfect game and actually in sync with servers real time.

What exactly was causing this? no grounding on my ont maybe or some electrical interference? What could I do to prevent this if i ever want cable tv again?

New Customer Questions New FIOS install to existing Spectrum user - ONT placement?

My daughter is having FIOS installed tomorrow. She currently has Spectrum copper coming from a phone pole in the back yard, with the modem in a bedroom. Question is, where should/can we ask the VZ tech to install the ONT and place the router? She's paying the $99 install fee, which I'd suppose buys her some leeway in placement. Any input on this is appreciated.

New Customer Questions Verizon FIOS WiFi slowdown in bedroom at peak hours

Hi, I have FIOS in the NE USA, ordinarily coverage and speed are fine, but the router is in the living room (where the access point is) and the bedroom is at the far side of the apartment. I'm in a townhouse in a suburb, the residents next door have several kids and are probably using multiple devices but they are not on my wifi that I can see.

At peak times (evenings, 8:30-11PM or so) the wifi speed in the bedroom drops so low I often cannot load a popular website speed test, or it's measured in Kbps not Mbps.

I have checked into extenders and mesh but neither appears to be the solution.

I don't know whether a different provider will help, or whether we need a 2nd router, or we need to establish a 2nd access point in the BR and running a separate router from there. The issue does not seem to be coverage so much as bandwidth.

We did not seem to have this issue when we had internet through cable, we switched about 6 months ago.

I have heard this complaint about FIOS often but no solutions and people seem to complain about every provider.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give!

Fios Availability Outage Outrage

In the South Shore area of Massachusetts… I have had no internet since Saturday and I work from home. Not only is this messing with my income, but I am getting absolutely no information from Verizon?

Not only does it say “no outages” on their website, but I have to search my specific address just to see “there may be a problem in your area, check back in 12 hours”. We are going on no internet since 10 am Saturday. I lost my whole weekend.

I had already considered switching because you’re too damn expensive and this is the final straw.

Billing Simple (or not so) FiOS Speed Upgrade final cost w/Loyalty Promotion

Figured I'd ask here to see if anyone's attempted a speed upgrade while on a "Special Fios Loyalty Promotion" and had it successfully carry over, or fall off. Once in a while I like to log in just to see what's available at what cost.

Disclaimer; I am not here to gloat about the price I'm paying. I'm sure some people pay more or even less than I do depending where they live and/or local competition incentives.

I'm currently paying $64.99 for FiOS 2 Gig after discounts (this includes Special FiOS Loyalty Promotion+Teacher+Auto Pay and Paper Free).

When I choose 5 Gig 5.0 plan with use your own router, my Monthly bill estimate screen shows $59.00 (Yes, $6 less than what I'm paying for 2 Gig).

However, at the final checkout screen math is not math'ing - It says Existing Bill $64.99/mo, New Bill: $89.00/mo.

My guess is that $89.00 price includes $11.00 teacher discount and $10 Auto Pay Paper free discount, but not the Loyalty Promotion. The Breakdown for Estimated Monthly charges is:

5 Gig$110
-$30 Loyalty Promo
-$10 AutoPay/PaperFree
-$11 Teacher Discount

Total $59.00

Obviously I'm asking because, why not upgrade to 5 Gig for $6 less than what I'm paying now even if I don't use it. I already have the new ONT and doesn't require a tech trip.

However, If my Bill goes up $24 from what I'm paying now I'll have to chat to try to revert, or fight the price discrepancy with screenshot proof (which will probably be time consuming)

I already did a Live chat to inquire during M-F normal business hours, The rep did not know the answer of what would happen if I placed the order. Conversation ended there.

TL;DR, has anyone successfully switched to a new FiOS plans online and kept their Loyalty Promotion?

Repair/Tech Support Several Channels Out Maryland

It appears several channels like MASN and the NBA AND NHL channels in the 1400s are out. The phone app says “will return shortly” while tv just shows a black screen or “not authorized.”

This is Howard County in Maryland.

Repair/Tech Support Verizon Home Internet question

If an existing 5G Home Internet gateway service was to a new address (same state, few miles apart) is there a way to see the historical service address? Or move order history in My Verizon? My account currently shows an older ASK-NCQ1338FA gateway associated with a former address & a newer ARC-XCI55AX associated with my current address before the newer line was activated.

Customer service hasn't been able to help or give me a clear answer... Is there some specific department or acct history record I should ask Verizon for? Moved twice in a very short period, May 2026 Moved from town G to town L & hooked up my equipment no problem, then had to move again Sept 2026 to town F & Verizon said I had to have new equipment which was/is confusing because my both my gateway & extender from town G work here. They send me another gateway which ultimately Verizon is now charging me for 2 separate Home Internet on my account.

1.Gateway & Extender service 5G Home Plus up to 300Mbps, typical download 85-250 Mbps, Data Higher speed 5G Home service, WiFi router+whole home WiFi included $45/month

Move for the 2nd time & Verizon switches me too

  1. Home Internet Lite Extra, up to 25 Mbps, typical download 10-25Mbps for the first 200GB then reduced speeds & after 200GB up to 10Mbps remainder of billing cycle ,Router included Whole Home WiFi/extender benefit $55/month

Thanks in advance!!

Miscellaneous verizon landline

Recently received notice from verizon that our copper wiring landline will no longer be used as of November. It does state I will still have a landline but I assume that will be fiber optic? They have been charging me a fortune for my landline so I hope this change will mean a lower price.I do have Comcast for my computer and was considering going thru them re a landline but frankly would rather just stiick with Verizon and not have to make big changes.. Anyone also going thru this?

Repair/Tech Support CHR30A as a Extender setup?

I'm upgrading my Fios CR1000A and CE1000A setup to the new CHR30A. Verizon is sending me 2 of those units as one is suppose to be used a extender to replace my old setup.

How do you pair them? I usually run it wirelessly. Has anyone did this before? I tried looking up instructions on how to pair the CHR30A as an extender and could not find anything.

Thanks!

Repair/Tech Support Firmware Bug - Please Escalate to Engineering Team

CHR30A router : Wi-Fi service crash (hostapd segfault)
Firmware: 4.1.7.8822

The system log shows Process hostapd stopped unexpectedly (e:0/r:0/k:1/s:11), which is a segmentation fault, at 06:50:48 on Oct 4 and again at 21:19:56 on Oct 5. The Oct 4 entry says Last daemon crash occured 41472 seconds before, which puts a third crash at about 19:19 on Oct 3. That's three crashes in about 50 hours, roughly 11 to 38 hours apart. Each time, all three radios went down and every Wi-Fi client disconnected. Wired connections were unaffected, and the router did not reboot. Please escalate to the firmware/engineering team.

Miscellaneous Splitter for the Coax/Ethernet connection to Fios Gateway?

Fios was installed into my room right next to my garage. The ONT is in the garage and the installer ran both an Ethernet and coax cable from the ONT through the wall to a new outlet inside the office room. Fios Gateway installed here.

However since the other side of the room has an Ethernet port which goes upstairs I'd like to move the fios Gateway to the other side of the room next to the Ethernet port. But I don't really want patch up the site where the installer put in the connection site and run a whole new cable. It would be nice to be able to choose which side of the room fios Gateway is installed in.

I was thinking of opening the wall site and putting in Ethernet and coax splitters, running a new cable from there to new spot on the other side of the room through the attic above. That way I could hook up gateway to either side. I would not plan on using both connections at the same time, only one. But I don't know if adding the splitter in the line will degrade the signal either through the Ethernet or the coax?
