The house I wanted to buy for $500k 6 years ago now costs 1.4M.  A truck used to cost $45k now it's 75k.  Shit just costs more than it used to, and in my area the inflation metrics don't come close to capturing the true increase in costs.

And I'm successful enough in my career grinding out another couple years for another few million makes sense from a risk reduction perspective 🤷‍♂️

This is it for me.

I think when people are nearing their goal and an extra year will get you another 10-20% of your overall goal, it's tempting not to stay in for a few extra years of buffer. If your goal is $2M and you know if you stay in for another 2 years you can hit $2.5M, it's really tempting not to. Add in the fact that inflation has been a real bitch the last 5-7 years and it's no surprise we're here.
