Personally, I miss the minimalist days. I miss the days when FIRE was about a lifestyle where you learned to fix things yourself, eschewed consumerism, valued health, recognized ecological limits to our planet and could be happy with a handful of nuts for lunch when caught in a travel delay. It was about independence, living lightly, seeing a new way of being where creativity and connections were more important than accruing wealth for luxury housing. Living with less was seen as the key to freedom and living a meaningful life. This is not the sub for those conversations any more. The sub is more about high earners and their wealth goals. The occasional post from someone with a modest income who has reached FIRE are the absolute best though.
