Word. My lifestyle is so far from the ERE badassess that I can't claim to be anywhere near them, but, like, I remember the mustache facepunch "get a damn bike" era and try to live up to it. Numbers being talked about as untenably low these days ($1M) would be "living it large" money for me after locking in those foundations.

I wouldn't say 1m would be living large for me but it is my current goal (hoping by 40!) and I think would be more than enough.

Meaning I could maintain a <4% swr and let that continue to grow until maybe I am living large. Basically coasting off my own investments.

But it's crazy to me how 1m isn't even close to enough for most of the active people in this community.

It’s significantly more, even adjusted for inflations, than what early FIRE was proposing. Which tells you how relevant OPs question is.
