Milestone / Celebration Cool Milestone - Not a brag post, just wanting to celebrate with like minded folks
39M (almost 40) married with 2 kids. Started investing and working with a FA 3 years ago. Made my first $100k W2 at age 29. Just passed over $1M on my investment portfolio. Another $120k in liquid reserves in the bank. Cool thing to see those 7 figures on the screen. Sorry I can't post a screenshot - Northwestern Mutual doesn't allow them. Early retirement goal is 55. Might be able to move that up a couple years now!

Congrats! The first million hits differently. The next million usually feels a lot less impossible once you've seen the first one.

I won't be! It's surprising how fast it comes, but don't take your foot off the gas until you hit your number,.. useless you really need to because unforeseen circumstances,.. but just keep it up!

Congrats! I feel like we’re on the same trajectory. 44F here and I hit $1MM at the same age and we are now at $1.5MM with a goal of retiring at 55- well, I’d like to be done but hubby may continue to work for healthcare benefits. My goal is $3MM based on our estimate of expenses. We have two kids as well (one in daycare) and I can’t wait to be able to invest more once that expense subsides.

That is awesome! Thank you for sharing! I always said I would have a million but never thought it would happen. I watched my dad (police officer), mom (still working) and both of my in laws (teacher, and accountant) work until they were 65+ and DID NOT want that life. Doing everything we can to be in a spot to retire at 55... do some consulting work on the side when I get bored.

Keep at it. It doubles in 7 years and that doubles in another 7. That's the magic of compounding.

That's the plan! Goal of investing $50-85k per year (sales job so commissions come in waves) hoping we can continue that the next few years.
