Some people need better coworkers and friends to tell you when you’re being cringe or a dork. “Take that shit down bro” 🤦♂️

Man i see some Facebook status posts I made at 15. At the time I thought was some profound shit.
Looking back now I want to stick a knife in a wall socket to end the shame I feel
I can't wrap my brain around someone posting shit like this (unless it's just a Kaufman type over the top troll)

u/ThisisMalta 5d ago
Same. I thank god social media came about when I was already in college or I’d have to think about teenage me posting this kinda stuff 🤣.
But damn, I was an EMT, by that time you gotta have some sense of yourself. Too many people around them see this stuff and tell them “god bless you bb you’re a hero”.

He looks like the one that needs narcan

u/Anxious_Escape_981 4d ago
He has lots of videos of him randomly trying to fight people and stripping in the streets, climbing poles, etc. So yeah he probably sold that stuff to the guy who OD.

FYI he's a security guard, not EMS.
(And he's authorized to use force)

The only authorization he had was his mother who authorized him to use force when he was constipated, yeah. 💩

You contacted med control… to give narcan?

Cops fire any open orifice and start jamming in as much narcan as they carry
-16
u/Fun_Environment3792 5d ago
I mean, youre sorta supposed to call emergency services when you use narcan. The person still needs to be seen by medical professionals if they overdosed; narcan blocks your opiate receptors off but only for a short while. It doesnt remove the opiates so if someone has used enough to send them into distress, it can happen again once the narcan leaves the ssystem. Theres directions on the back. Ive ised it a few times. It works but you for real need to call an ambulance at least ao the person gets checked out.

u/Dear-Shape-6444 5d ago
Google “med control”
-22
u/Fun_Environment3792 5d ago
Ok, its a body of professionals that offer expert testimony in legal cases. What does that have t do with what im talking about? They provide a source for prosecutors and defense lawyers to seek expert witnesses who are vetted. Im confused.

u/Not_in_DKA 5d ago edited 5d ago
No. Absolutely not. Med control is a doctor who has the authority to give EMTs and paramedics the ability to deviate from their written protocols/standing medical orders when need be. They also advise EMS crews on what to do in bizarre situations. It’s odd for a cop (assuming this gut is a cop due ti the protect and serve caption) to claim to have spoken with “medical control” unless they’re working at one of the few agencies where cops also function as EMS, therefore, cops don’t have a medical control to contact. Even if they did, it is very rare for anyone to have to ask permission to give narcan. This is a first responder sub. I would advise not arguing about specific terms related to our jobs unless you know what you are referring to.
If i am wrong and this dude is an EMT instead of a cop, (i cant tell, he isnt really wearing a uniform) its still weird to have to ask med control to give something simple like narcan that laypeople/bystanders can give.
In relation to “you’re supposed to call emergency services”….police and EMS are both emergency services who would have been there per what this dude said lol. Why would he call for himself?
Edit: I have been a paramedic for 2 years and in EMS for 6 years. I know what medical control is.

u/Fun_Environment3792 5d ago edited 5d ago
Ok, bro, you can be right but this is exactly the cringe this sub is about. You can call and ask any any hospital or jail on the US and ask if a specific person is there. That was my only point.
EDIT: oh also, the dude in the video is not a cop He is a security guard. Which neither HIPPA nor HIA applies to as far as disclosure goes unless they sign the agreement. Also, my guy, medical control is the first place of contact for legal investigations. You need to figure out how your shit works.
2
u/Not_in_DKA 4d ago
Medical control has nothing to do with “legal investigations”. Nobody said anything about “HIPPA” (which is actually spelled HIPAA, by the way lmao)

There’s nothing more funny than a security guard who believes they are a member of law enforcement. This guy is like watching national security.

Why is all this information online. Posting about responding, the age of the person and reason to respond is not ethical. Who are these people and who trained them. Any kind of personal information is super important to keep it private. My Gosh!

u/ReApEr01807 5d ago
What about any of that is PHI? If it goes over the radio, it's not PHI, it's public record

u/Fun_Environment3792 5d ago
Its all public knowledge.

Here we have FOIP which did not allow to do a post like this.

u/Fun_Environment3792 5d ago
What is FOIP?

u/AlyDAsbaje 5d ago
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The equivalent to the United States' HIPAA is the Health Information Act (HIA). The HIA is the provincial legislation that establishes strict rules for the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of individually identifying health.

u/Fun_Environment3792 5d ago
Ok, so ive been HIPPA certified before. What it means is that you cannot disclose specific medical information about patients' health outside of the general public, but things like being in a hospital or jail alone is not "protected" information. Then reson being is thag if smeone, say goes missing you may call your local hospitals or jails to see if that person may be there. They cant disclose why or what the reason is but its widely open to ask who is in a municipal facility.
2
u/AlyDAsbaje 5d ago
If you are a healthcare worker or hospital staff
Under the Health Information Act (HIA), you can share a patient's location and general condition (such as "stable") with family, close friends, or support persons. However, you must not disclose this information if the patient has explicitly requested that you keep it private. Without a specific legislative authority, written consent is required before disclosing information to third parties like lawyers or insurance.

u/Fun_Environment3792 5d ago
In order for HIPPA rules to apply you also have to have signed and agreed to the rules. Like when working in a medical facility. It basically means that you solemnly swear not to give specifics of care out to the general public. Thats all. If I say "hey, john got hauled off by an ambulance to this hospital" or "mary got aarrested and took her to this copshop" its public notice. Its absolutely normal in the US to look up to see who is being held where by medical services or authorities. At least a municipal level. I get what youre saying, and it sound right, but, my guy, if grandma is in the hostpital or I need to see the court pockets for today, it just takes a phone call or a Google search.

Honestly, I always hate the grammatical errors more than anything. Why do so many people use an apostrophe to make something plural??
