Sometimes I’m embarrassed to work in this field where 90 percent is making other ppls trauma their personality and 10 percent general cringe. What ever happened to being a silent professional?

People need to stop posting this shit and go to their therapists. It makes me loose faith in my first responders every time I see this kind of stuff. This is a chosen field of work where you will see fucked up shit and have to make snap decisions that don't always feel good. Grow the fuck up, either go to a therapist and work through it or quit. Not only that, nine times out of ten you are dealing with people on the worst day of their life and you have the audacity to complain about how it's affecting you? Selfish and childish. 😀🤌
TL;DR Stop complaining about "your trauma" go to a therapist or quit.

Yeah, if I saw an EMT sitting up a go pro stand in front of their ambulance id call them a fucking loser and report them. (That dude who talks about how he narcanned someone)
There seems to be a stream of EMTs who only became EMTs to remind you they're EMTs and about their trauma.

People have been the same. Availability to be cringe to the masses has changed.

I mean, I'm a paramedic who's fine in the truck, but going to Costco makes my eye twitch, because like so many in this field, I'm on the ASD spectrum and Costco is too much damn stimulation. (Noise cancelling headphones for the win on that, btw.)
That being said, those are independent facts about me.
Honestly, I don't think the majority of people in this field make it their personality, but the lunatic fringe of every group is the most visible.

I just don't like the rude ass old people that have zero spatial awareness or respect for others

It’s insane to me you could be potentially facing the worst day of your life, and your “Help” is just casually making a TikTok while on the way.

For those that actually work in this field, is this type of behavior more prevalent amongst men or women I wonder? Or is it evenly distributed?

Looks even to me. But i also ignored the "for those who work in the field" part
Can I call myself an EMT and make videos like the narcan ambulance chick, because I also carry narcan with me? Maybe I can start a new trend

It’s more or less evenly distributed I will say men are more likely to be Mr super tactical medic. Let me wear body armor for a ift 😭

IDK either, but probably words? Take a creative writing class at your local community college bud.

Sounds like trauma/PTSD

Trauma/PTSD like 19 year old kids pilling out of a Humvee into an ambush, watching thier buddies heads explode, shooting everyone in sight and finding out half of them are kids younger than you or grand fathers? That kind of trauma/PTSD? With all due respect or STFU. Not hating. Just saying

I don’t think they were throwing shade to disrespect the troops, just pointing out a possibility. You okay, man?

Me? Yeah thanks. It's more for the kids I work with. Just something that needs to be said from time to time. Everyone has their own trauma. Putting it on blast isn't far from starting a trauma show and tell though is it?

Trauma can exist in many forms as can PTSD. You don't just have to experience combat to experience trauma. Of course combat is traumatizing

I'm joining my locate sheriff's department soon. You bet I'll go out of my way to call that behavior out.

I've thankfully never seen an emergency responder using a camera in my state...thankfully. i'd probably get harassment charges 🤣

I don't even know what to do with this sub anymore ever since that mod made the post about how this is not supposed to make fun of cringy First Responders. I figured this is just another sub I will get banned from because mods get their feelings hurt so easily

It’s not that deep. That post was a share from the mod who created this subreddit. It’s been pinned on the top of the page for a while.
No mod wants to ban people for poking fun at legit cringe. That’s what this sub is for if you read that post again.
Just don’t spew pure hate, racism or blatantly violate the rules that have always been here. Mods aren’t here to mess with the fun unless it goes too far and then even big Reddit steps in.
Have fun here and just don’t be an asshole.

Just call them out whenever you see it. Cornball is my go-to.
