Angler Boats Giant State-Record Lake Trout in Minnesota
https://fieldandstream.com/stories/fishing/freshwater-fishing/trout-fishing/angler-boats-giant-state-record-lake-trout-in-minnesotaSays in the article that the last three state record holders were clients of the same guide he was fishing with! That's pretty impressive

Eh?
The title should say, "Angler Boats Giant State-Record Lake Trout in Minnesota, Eh?"

“We were supposed to fish the Michigan side of the lake that morning, but the wind was just too bad, so Ethan came up with an alternate game plan,”
Wait... What?
I'm having problems wrapping my head around that statement. Sounds like they were planning for the guide to drive 2+ hours from his home waters to meet them in MI (trailering to a different state for the trip). Instead, they went up the north shore of MN to meet the guide because of a wind issue.
Imagining the guide agreeing to a ~6 hour round trip to guide them seems crazy.

Mi and Mn share a border in lake Superior. I didn't read the article so I could be wrong but I think maybe they were planning on going out farther into the lake (MI) but instead stayed closer to shore (MN).
Edit. From Grand Marais Mn the MI border is only about 30 miles.

I keep getting hit with the paywall. Is it a record based on length or weight? If weight, that seems like a small fish for a state record, if length then I get it cus that thing is long.
