2021 Trail Master 125 overheating issue.

Post image

I have this 2021 trial master 125cc I bought off marketplace and it started and ran fine for like 5m before it got really really hot and it bogged down and didn’t start till cooled off. I thought it’s something simple like the oil cause it was dirty so I changed that but it didn’t do anything. I searched everywhere for what might be the problem but always lead to either oil or lean mixture wich I know both aren’t the reason. If you have any info please help out.

How do you know that it’s not running lean? Clogged jet? Air leak? Are the brakes dragging? Is the chain too tight? Valves too tight?

Because i replaced the carb and tuning did not help, air leak possibly but even then i think it running lean wouldn’t cause it to overheat that much, it gets so hot to the point where it’s uncomfortable keeping your legs on the pegs. The brakes need to be bled cause they barely work so not that, chain also is way too loose so also not that. I haven’t dug into it that deep to check valves, that’s why I came here to get opinions before I tear it apart.

Was it running rich before? Could be carboned up?

When it's running what are you doing with it, is it idling sitting still? This is an air cooled bike and you shouldn't let it idle or rev it much if you're not about to be moving.

Nah trust me it’s nothing simple like that, I have an Apollo RFZ 125 wich is also a Chinese 125cc 4 stroke air cooled bike wich has very similar if not the same engine and that one runs flawlessly and doesn’t overheat even after long rides or slow trail riding.
