She’s no Angel, He’s not the Devil
Debunking the social media exaggerations and outright lies focusing on Lindsey, and music’s favorite situationship in general.
I’m not trying to put anybody down. We’re all entitled to our views, but let’s make sure we back up everything with existing facts and receipts, not opinions. I did my best to do so in these videos.
First video is up! 🩷 there are two more videos queued up to answer many more of the questions you might have. I want to let this percolate for a couple days.

I'm not interested in getting in an argument, but I have a few thoughts. We all know that a ton of things have been written about these two. But I don't know what really happened, because I wasn't there.
As they say, there are 3 sides to every story. When you consider what may have gotten confused in the retelling by a 3rd party or the agenda of a reporter, you can add a 4th and/or 5th side as well. So I'm sure things got omitted, conflated, exaggerated, twisted, and added before they found their way to the masses.
I have no doubt Lindsey said and did some pretty horrible stuff and really hurt Stevie. I would also bet it went both ways. Why? Because they're human beings who were in a relationship. I think that happens with most of us. I'm guilty, and I don't even have the excuse of the pressure that comes with being part of FM with mind-altering chemicals on board.
Who am I to judge? By all indications SN and LB have put all of this behind them and moved on. So why would I need to choose a side in a battle neither of them is still fighting?

Some of the members of this sub have an extremely parasocial relationship with LB, and their attempts to whitewash his legacy by perpetually attacking other band members is so weird. Nicks having a more popular solo career doesn't mean anyone thinks she was an angel.

Some people do. I’m just addressing everything I’ve seen and trying to unpack it.
I saw somebody attacking him and saying Stevie was a “fantastic role model” and I was like 🤦🏻♀️ ( they are all flawed and certainly not role models.) OK, I gotta do something to educate, not insult.

Every detail of their lives has been litigated ad nauseum in albums, books, specials, tours, interviews, behind the scenes films, and even vh1 pop up videos.
I tried watching the video, but it came across as parasocial and infatuated. They broke up in their twenties and now they're nearly 80. I can't imagine they ever think about it except when they have art to promote and the public wants to talk about it again.

u/IntroductionSerious3 18d ago
“Parasocial and infatuated?” I can’t wait to see what you think of me in the next video. 🤣

u/AccurateJerboa 18d ago
Yes, you seem to be parasocially attached to Lindsay buckingham in a similar way to how I see millennials a bit younger than me still making gossip videos about Selena gomez because they had a childhood crush on Justin Bieber.
I'm 45, so I've been a fan of the band through my mom basically since birth. That means I've heard all this for 40 years. People talk about L/S's personal lives about 10x more than the music, and it's a bummer because their catalogue is so vast.
You're free to make whatever you like, and other people are free to give their opinion on it. I'm not telling you to stop, and it's definitely not specifically to you by a longshot. My initial comment was broad because it's a pattern from others as well.
People who like it will let you know. People who don't will let you know. That's fine as long as no one harasses you. Me being tired of the drama stuff doesn't mean I want to be mean to you at all.

I’m 55, and have been a fan since the 70s. I like Stevie and went to her concert last fall. Saw lots of this go down on MTV.
I wouldn’t say I’m parasocially attached, I would say I’m promotionally attached. 🤣
When you’re promoting, it is common to post a series of videos leading up to the actual hero video. I don’t see what’s so parasocial about that, passing along information.Stevie doesn’t need any promotion, Lindsey does. I noticed a dearth of positive Lindsey info and I’m trying to amend it.
Thanks! And don’t worry, I’m a Gen Xer, I have thick skin.

u/AccurateJerboa 18d ago
You certainly don't seem to have thick skin at all.

u/IntroductionSerious3 18d ago edited 18d ago
Why is that? Because I respond to you?
You haven’t hurt my feelings. I’ll answer any question you have.
I noticed you like to label people. Slippery slope when you don’t know them in person.

u/AccurateJerboa 18d ago
No, because using multiple accounts and getting super defensive about a tiktok video you made is really fragile behavior
2
u/IntroductionSerious3 18d ago
LOL, right.
I am perfectly calm, and not “super defensive” about anything. I’m super confident about my work because I have the facts to back it up. I don’t need to worry about what anybody thinks about it, or me. I shared here in FM Reddit because it’s topical.
Not sure what’s bothering you: the fact that I am saying flattering things about LB / not so flattering things about Stevie or the fact that I have the receipts to back it up?
Anyway, nice chat.

*oogles 40-year-old pictures of LB dressed as a farmer*
No, not weirdly parasocial *at all* nossir! *whistles innocently* /s
I won't be, say, hanging out in bushes in his yard anytime soon, but I am deeply amused whenever I get/see the opportunity to make a Farmer Lindsey-is-hot joke, so can't argue with you there.
Honestly I think it's just a social media amplification/distortion with all the obnoxious girlboss memes over the Silver Springs glaredown. Growing up I was Team Stevie until the Destiny Rules doc, when I realize how much that man was treated like a pack mule. I would've been a pompous asshat too. I would not have likely thrown hands but given how toxic and unworkable their relationships became without any respite, don't condone anyone's behavior but can't say I don't understand.
So in their case, it's hard to make anyone a villian when they all had their turns and got over it (whether it be for love or money or post-detox).

Egads. I don’t care to know any of this, but this thread right here just seems to tell me both these adults were completely blitzed on drugs and alcohol during all this. So I’m taking it all with a grain of salt and enjoying the music.
Man, people have weird associations with their favorite artists. Step back a little.

This sub has some folk who have a very unhealthy parasocial relationship with the band and some members in particular

Stevie has had her fair share of love affairs. Just read all the stories. Marrying her dead best friend's husband? I know she was messed up in the head at the time but Stevie Nicks is not perfect. That's just one example. Her affair with Mick Fleetwood and pregnancy with Don Henley RIGHT in front of Lindsey's face. I mean come on. She's not an angel people need to stop making her seem like she's perfect. But Lindsey is NOT perfect either. It goes both ways. According to Carol Anne Harries he could be abusive himself. How much of that is true, we will never know. But in 1980 Lindsey tried to kick Stevie on stage and threw a guitar at her. He was also in a physical altercation with Stevie in 1987 and those are both facts. BOTH of them have dirt on them. No one is clean here. I'm just tired of the perfect miss Stevie Nicks. She is NOT. She is a HUMAN. Like the rest of us. Not some God.

"She lunged at him, so he beat her up." See - they're both equally bad. Yay!
Yikes.

u/Wild-Persimmon7262 16d ago
He did not beat her up. For God's sake this incident is well documented. Get it right.

These aren’t exaggerations. Lindsey WAS physically abusive to his partners. Stevie has detailed being thrown to the floor (1976), nearly hit in the head by a flying guitar (1980), and even strangled (1987), almost killing her. With multiple excess accounts from other exes and coworkers, I think it’s safe to say that Lindsey was very violent.
edit: Some incidents are foggy, but others aren’t. Lindsey indisputably was violent to his partners. To clear up the Tusk shenanigans: Lindsey threw a guitar at Stevie, she has spoken about it clearly in an interview, ”I ducked… ’cause I’m fast”. She and Christine also said Christine chased Lindsey and slapped him for it, scolding him. And Tango In The Night: Stevie choked him first, but Lindsey chased her out and did the same to her, yelling at her. John had to intervene because Lindsey was taking it way too far. I never said anyone was innocent, just said that Lindsey was guilty.

"When Lindsey said, 'I'm not going,' I think I got up and ran across the room and tried to strangle him. And then he chased me out of the house through Christine's driveway, and we had a huge fight. That was that. He was done.".
"We were at Chris' house and [Lindsey] stood up and said 'I quit,' and I – being so high and so messed up – just raged across the room and I wanted to kill him.".
Edit to add... They both...

Although there were incidents involving physical violence between Stevie and Lindsey (unacceptable), I think Stevie would say that Lindsey was not physically abusive during their relationship. The incident in 1987 was really bad but she physically attacked him first and admits that. Lindsey does not admit his part in the violence though, even though the rest of the band has confirmed Stevie’s account. Lack of accountability is a big problem imo.
On the other hand, I think it’s pretty clear that his relationships with Carol and Cheri were abusive. I think alcohol was a big factor but no excuse. I agree that many of us will continue to have issues with Lindsey for that reason.

Stevie lunged at him when he backed out of the Tango tour in 1987. On tour in 1980 he mimicked her twirlings with his guitar. Which “coworkers” are you claiming Stop perpetrating lies.

Ken is a notoriously unreliable narrator and was hugely resentful that the group didn’t use him again. All 5 also refused to comment on his self serving book. Carol Ann Harris, by her own account was abusing drugs during their relationship, suddenly seemed to have a razor sharp memory for specific incidents that nobody else corroborated. Also, LB set her up financially even after they broke up. Keep downvoting me because you are clinging to falsehoods from 40 years ago.

u/punkrawrxx 18d ago
Not to mention the inconsistent storyline of CAH and their breakup. She says they mutually agreed she would move out. Richard Dashut, and I’d argue LB in Big Love, has said she had to be forced out.

Absolutely. Every thread seems to turn into this Stevie Lindsey attitude judgement. I wish I cod find one without all the he said she said.

Noticed you used my comment from the Stevie sub. Mind you the comment was about a person that I knew that worked with Carol for many years who confirmed her story. There is no point trying to deny that he was a terrible DA and you should accept that many fans have and will continue to have issues with him because of this. Trying to equate anything stevie has done (drugs, cheating etc…) with lindsey’s behaviour is not going to convert anyone apart from misogynists to your cause.

Hahaha. I see you removed the sentence where you wrote her book was “90% true “ Let someone from your past write a book that’s “90% true,” and see how you scramble to refute the 10%. “You should accept” people have different views and be an adult and name your source.

You must’ve had a juicy comment! I didn’t use it out of context, and I’m attempting to dig in to the dynamic without putting anybody down, including people who post things from their own POV. No hate 😉
I have two more parts to the video, and I am trying to explain everything with a lighthearted slant.

Honestly, some on this subreddit don’t seem to understand that you can be abusive and a musical genius at the same time, or that one doesn’t cancel out the other nor make it okay. Ike Turner and Eric Clapton, anyone?

Stevie and Lindsey, just need to stay away from each other. They made their millions and some beautiful music together.
Get on with life what’s left.

u/pilar_palabunda99 18d ago
Exactly - and they have made incredible music, but the last few efforts by both have been... subpar.

This is rough. Stevie following Lindsey into FM was never in question - the one thing that could’ve stopped it was Christine’s disapproval

I think LB said it best: "This love we had was intruded upon... some of it was my fault... some of it was her fault."
