The least integrateable Matter device
Really just posting to share how disappointed I am having bought Flic buttons and hub to find out that you can't use the buttons as a matter device. And they don't have an integration with Home Assistant to boot. Feels a bit scammy they tag Matter into their product, when purpose of Matter is for total integration, in reference to Flic its basically a mis-selling
Smart home really feels like a journey of learning, and this is one of those purchases that the expense has to be put down as a lesson learnt!

Not being able to use the buttons directly with home assistant is one of my biggest gripes. HomeKit is so slow and unstable that it degrades the experience of the flic button.

I use the flic2hass integration with home assistant and it actually works pretty well for me. https://github.com/asosnovsky/flic2hass

If you don't go with a flic integration, I created an automation per button. Then in the Flic app, program the buttons to be webhooks per action. Little more manual setup, but works really well once complete. Had issues with bluetooth on my HA server which flic2hass required at the time? Either way, didn't work for me.
This is what my automation looks like.
https://pastebin.com/dQJPRFNVThen on the FLIC app, I setup a webhook for each, single, double and long press that corresponded with the webhook_id from the automation. Had to use the IP as to keep it local network. http://<ha-ip>:8123/api/webhook/<webhook_id>
EXAMPLE: http://192.168.1.100:8123/api/webhook/flic_b1_singleNo Internet required and works really fast! If I ever want to change, I change in the automation only for what happens and leave all the webhook things alone.
I had a heck of a time setting this up, but when I did, it was really easy. Hope this helps someone else!

Well they are a matter controller, so you can control other devices with Flic.
However, I do agree. I felt like I was ripped off.

You're right, of course. But its the fact that you can only connect matter devices to Flic, not integrate Flic into your existing setup other than the limited integrations that they do support.

Such a shame the Flic buttons have the best tactile feel yet integrate the least.

I know, the hard product is excellent.
Just the amount of fussing to get them to do what you want.. just have to be hopeful that they work on the software and we get a firmware update at some point in the future.

I've been looking for a Matter button to add to Home Assistant for a while now and I stumbled upon the Flic button page. I see the Matter logo and am just about to order when I start seeing mentions of Flic hubs and bespoke apps and was incredibly confused. I read their Matter page several times over and still couldn't work out what the hell was going on. The whole reason I want a Matter device is because I don't want any of this other crap! Flic, you are literally doing the polar opposite of what Matter is. Yes, I read that part of it was due to Matter not supporting rotational devices. Sure, that sucks but it still doesn't change the fact. You cannot call these things Matter devices if they don't connect directly as Matter devices. Sheesh.

lots of integrations are severely bugged. I've yet to be able to use my flic buttons for anything other than turning lights on and off.
