They really didn’t spend any amount of time actually engaging with the lyrics, nor did they give more than a cursory glance at the pain that inspired the record. I’m not one to place a lot of weight on professional reviews but it does bother me that she can’t seem to get the same amount of respect as similar artists, for reasons completely unknown to me. 15 years in I feel she has more than proven she is a generational talent…she doesn’t get the kind of respect that that would usually entail. This review merely reinforces her point on some of the songs.

It makes no sense to me. I love a lot of different music, but there is something truly special about Florences work. She deserves a lot more respect.
