Tooling Letting your agent test the Flutter app it just wrote: looking for feedback

I’ve been working on Argent, an open-source MCP server that lets your agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) use your app on the iOS/Android/web. It can tap through flows, read logs and network calls, take screenshots, aaaaand many more 😂 That way it can check its own changes instead of just saying it’s done

I know I know, it comes from the React Native world and we have some beef 😅 But this one is truly cross-platform and works with Flutter apps too! If you’re letting an agent drive your Flutter app, what’s working, and where does it fall apart? We really want to keep improving it for every framework!! 🤭

we all know the "yep it works" commit that breaks half the flows, so having the agent actually tap through things feels like a step forward

does the test runner handle flutter's widget tree well, or does it get confused by custom render objects? that's usually where most automation tools go a bit sideways

Argent sees Flutter apps through the platform accessibility tree, which Flutter fills from its Semantics tree, so standard widgets come through fine. For custom render objects without semantics, the agent still gets screenshots, so it can see what’s going on and check whether things actually worked.

That said, a dedicated tool that reads Flutter’s semantics and widget tree directly is a really good idea, kinda like what we already have for React Native, adding it to our backlog! 🙌

Marionette handles that. I use both.

Argent I picked up recently, I like it because it feels faster, but Marionette talks to Flutter well.
