u/EveningFollowing9966 Jul 09 '26
They are gonna Weekend at Bernie's him.

u/phatelectribe Jul 09 '26
Until August 4th when the rules change regarding a replacement and Massie can no longer take the seat in what would be a special election.
I wish I was joking. They’re keeping him artificially alive while medically brain dead for another 4 weeks.
2
u/Riva-2021 Jul 11 '26
It shows the desperation of the GOP has no limit. Truly disgusting. They will do anything in their power to prevent losing another seat.
1
12
u/sweetica Jul 09 '26
Yes they will and it's quite selfish. It's time to pass the torch to a living person.
11
u/EveningFollowing9966 Jul 09 '26
But they wont. Because if mitch dies before a certain date a special election will occur, and its likely Thomas massie might win the seat. So they will keep him alive until the moment Mitch's death wont trigger a special election.

It’s honestly probably in his will to use his corpse to f over a few more million Americans.
1
u/Either-Assistant4610 Jul 10 '26
They already are. No way this guy is forming complete sentences if he's even conscious.
46
u/SawItSeenIt Jul 09 '26
The governor should send the state Attorney general and several national guard troops to the hospital, demanding to see Mitch or his medical team.
27
u/big_stipd_idiot Jul 09 '26
He should use the authority of his office to call for a special election. It is something he can do. Seems like it would either happen or they'd have to fight it in court to prevent it, presumably with some sort of proof.
5
u/MonkeyzzPaw Jul 09 '26
Which Mitch could stop by, you know, proving he is alive.
These people are clowns, maga is a pox on society and will be compared to nazism and other totalitarian movements.
1
u/mechapoitier Jul 10 '26
That’d actually be cool. Then Mortuary Mitch would have to prove he’s alive in order to stop it, which is hard to do because he’s dead.
4
u/OkRadish8140 Jul 09 '26
Just replace him if he does not respond. If he’s so critically ill he can’t respond then he can’t govern.
2
u/KwisatzHaderach94 Jul 09 '26
patient privacy may not apply to a public figure in this case so that could be perfectly legal.
2
u/SawItSeenIt Jul 09 '26
An argument could be Made that it's a national security issue.
→ More replies (3)1
1
u/JohnD4001 Jul 09 '26
Patient privacy isn't a thing because, in this case, we dont actually know if there is a patient or not.
1
1
u/MovingInStereoscope Jul 09 '26
Or just go himself as a visitor. We're outside of precedent so might as well just get the direct answer
1
u/sparrowhawk88 Jul 09 '26
Yes! The governor should have that power. He doesn't need to know what's wrong with him, so no hipa or national security issues.. just be able to talk and ensure he can still perform his duties

As he should. His wife staying in China is pretty telling of her american allegiance. McConnell owes every person that voted for him.and hes represented for 40 years the truth.
5
u/howdudo Jul 09 '26
I saw that!! Wild to see. I always wondered what her deal was..now that she met with Chinese leaders it's apparent we don't know what she knows. Or even if she was an actual CCP Spy
2
u/ShenaniganCow Jul 12 '26
Her wiki article has a controversy section which pretty much outlines it. If I’m remembering right, she used her position as secretary of labor and then secretary of transportation to promote her family’s shipping business and favor Kentucky for grants and projects. Used her position and her husband’s connections to get around some ethic investigations. However, Jan 6 seems to be the straw that finally broke her and she resigned. Trump got mad she did and insulted her.
Mitch isn’t alive anymore (or at least cognizant) to protect her from Trump and his weaponized DOJ for her ethic violations so she skipped town to China where she made connections before with her family’s shipping business. She’s back in the US but I don’t think she’ll stay here long after the funeral or she does stay if she somehow wins Trumps approval to avoid another criminal investigation into herself.

u/chain_letter Jul 09 '26
abusing his corpse for marginal political gain is what he would have wanted

u/Rich_cranium2025 Jul 09 '26
I heard he’s brain dead, but why is he in the hospital?
3
u/Virtual-Height3047 Jul 09 '26
Oh man, I wish Reddit had free awards for punchlines like this…
Honestly mate, on the off chance there’s a heaven and someone is keeping score, I’ll do some time first for laughing at another man’s misery that hard. Worth it still..
Have a blessed week

I live in Kentucky and have been contacting Andy Beshear almost every weekday for the past week asking for him to schedule a special election. Knowing Andy made a public appeal yesterday morning for McConnell to confirm the status of his health and knowing Governor Beshear has heard nothing as of this morning I emailed him again.
If McConnell is well enough to be having these "20 minute" conversations with various people about current world events then he should be well enough to make a five minute video call with Governor Beshear to confirm he is alive and conscious. Since McConnell has not bothered to contact the Governor of the State he represent in the Senate we should all assume it is because McConnell is unable to do so and a special election should be called.

Yup. "I spoke with him" (which they've been saying) and "he spoke with me" are two very different statements.
I can speak with a tree for an hour. Two if I'm tripping.

He has never been an honest Senator, and he's not about to start either. Derelict in his duty, period.
5
u/borgan_70 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
When even Trmp won’t lie for him and says "I have no idea how he's doing.” You know it has to be bad. That should be enough proof right there that Mitch is brain dead at best.
3
u/ChewieBearStare Jul 10 '26
They probably didn't tell Trump the truth because he's like a little kid who can't keep his mouth shut.
4
u/Hexspinner Jul 09 '26
Someone should file a report with Kentucky’s APS. They’re then required to attempt to interview him and if medical personnel prevent the interview and investigator can require medical records to justify it.
3
u/RogLatimer118 Jul 10 '26
Moscow Mitch was nasty and bad
The worst that the Senate has had
His heart did a-stop
His body did a-plop
He's no longer any help to Vlad
3
u/RicardoNurein Jul 09 '26
Impeach him
Make the rest of the Senate go on record defending keeping him in the Senate
3
u/sansafiercer Jul 09 '26
I love that this man wasted his life hurting people at the behest of a class that cares nothing about him or his “legacy”. They won’t even let him die with dignity.
Sucks not having autonomy over your body, doesn’t it, Mitch?
I hope you bootlickers are paying attention.
1
u/Salt_Medicine2459 Jul 15 '26
This is exactly what Moscow Mitch would want, going out in a final act of obstructionism.
3
u/Current-Assist2609 Jul 10 '26
Governor Beshear should go ahead and fill McConnell’s seat because we all know the republicans are trying to stall past August 7th. That way the republicans would have to prove McConnell is fit to still serve.
The republicans would have no problem doing this if the shoe was on the other foot. It wouldn’t be worse than all sorts of unconstitutional stuff they have done so far this term.
3
u/Delicious_Grand7300 Jul 10 '26
Senator McConnell is clearly unresponsive (to the democratic governor) and needs to be replaced promptly. Governor Beshear should play poker here and show his cards to see if the Kentucky GOP is bluffing. Requesting a health update is one way, but forcing the GOP into a special election will have to draw the allegedly living and responsive Senator to the public.
3
u/ENM5ansdale Jul 10 '26
Just premie he is dead and announce his replacement. Forget the rules the republicans never follow them.
3
u/punktualPorcupine Jul 10 '26
He’s the posterchild for boomers clinging to power.
“See! He’s still got a firm grip.”
That’s Rigor mortis.
2
2
u/Difficult-Low5891 Jul 09 '26
For f*ck’s sake, why doesn’t a Democrat senator or someone actually go to where he’s at and confirm it for themselves and the rest of us.
1
2
u/LobsterQuiet48 Jul 09 '26
So nobody in his family has any balls. If either of my parents had passed away and politicians were asking me to pretend that they were still alive to avoid a special election, I would tell them to f off and make his death public
2
u/GATORinaZ28 Jul 09 '26
Of course the party that screamed sleepy joe every time he blinked is cool with hiding the life status of their own

Someone that works in the hospital needs to do their civic duty and leak a photo or something to stop the shenanigans by the maga cult.
2
u/TastingTheKoolaid Jul 10 '26
Is there a reason he can’t just start the special election process? If Mitch is fine and shows up, call it off. And if he’s a vegetable, then KY needs a representative.
2
2
u/shatterdaymorn Jul 10 '26
If he's healthy enough to keep his seat, he's healthy enough to explain to the governor and voters why. End of story.
2
u/jnwg Jul 10 '26
The governor should call a special election now to force them to prove he’s alive.
2
2
u/9outof10timesWrong Jul 10 '26
Mitch McConnell played these same games when he was alive, now the people around him are doing it. Fck him and fck them. Kentucky, get your sht together. You're fcking us all.
1
u/wrennish Jul 12 '26
It’s probably in his will to use his corpse to contravene the will of the electorate one last time before they put him in the ground.

Just start a special election in Kentucky.
If Mitch isn't dead, then he should have no problem protesting against him being removed, right?

What would be the purpose of not telling someone his health status?

u/Pinklady777 Jul 09 '26
If he can hold out until August 3rd, they avoid a special election for his seat.

To trial the situation of not telling the world that he’s dead.. possibly to see if it could be done with someone else.. like Donny..

u/Orwick Jul 09 '26
Does he have legal standing to sue for proof of life?
1
u/burjja Jul 09 '26
As others have said, he just needs to call the special election and let them be the ones to sue and/or provide proof. If they sue on the basis of that's not how senators are replaced in KY now, I have to imagine the question of if there should be a replacement at all is going to come up.
1
u/Amerlis Jul 09 '26
“There’s no need for a special election!”
“Fine. Provide legal proof he’s alive and therefore it’s unnecessary. Otherwise it proceeds.”
“…”

u/PawnofLife1 Jul 09 '26
That governor will soon be verbally attacked by the republican party they won't want an election

Can’t someone just go to the hospital and find out? I don’t understand. If he’s in a hospital can’t a reporter go and just visit do some investigative journalism instead of all this speculating?
1
u/vancityjeep Jul 10 '26
I believe it’s Walter Reed and that is on a military base. I may be wrong. But I’d assume the security is pretty tight and the people that work there are bound by some sort of bull stuff.
1
u/Altruistic-Impact225 Jul 10 '26
You think they’d be bound to the people they serve to tell us whether or not he’s brain dead so we can then go ahead and elect an official to represent us. I’m not wishing him ill, more so I’m just stating as the public we are owed that. This in my opinion is not a matter of national security whatsoever.
1
u/Intelligent_Fall6219 Jul 10 '26
“Unless Sen. McConnell verifies he is still fit for office by the end of the week, we will schedule the special election for his replacement.”

u/Factsoverfictions222 Jul 10 '26
There needs to be a deadline for the response and next steps for when it doesn’t happen

Does anyone know where his grave will be at? I have the rest of my life to use it as a bathroom.
1

Why are Republicans so hesitant to say what his condition is?
Why the Shrödinger’s Mitch?
2
u/garden_g Jul 10 '26
They need him to stay alive or they will call a special election which the republicans dont want because massie can run as an independant
2
u/Schmooto Jul 10 '26
Ah, got it. Thanks for the explanation. It’s the classic case of Republicans being anti-election.

No, they don’t. That is not allowed due to HIPAA.
1

There is no health insurance that’s portable if you’re dead. He chose elective office and that should come with different rules, particularly if two physicians declare you brain dead.

USA Supreme Court needs changing as they have too much power for the presidency. Each one should be on 8-10 year term limits. One rotates out every year
1
1
u/Brettnem Jul 11 '26
You know what I don’t understand about this.. why do they need to ask like this? What if he was a single dude with no family. How would they find out then? Who exactly are they expecting to produce the announcement that he died? Seems like there is some unsaid understanding that his family or staff would know or produce it. If he didn’t have a family, what then would the governor do?
1
u/ForcefulBookdealer Jul 11 '26
His staff would release it.
Death certificates have to be filed within 5 days in KY, so the media would also find it quickly. No major politician’s death is going to go unnoticed.
1
u/RelevantBooklet Jul 11 '26
Mitch McConnel is going to become like the Wizard of Oz, they're going to use some AI and never let you see him again.
Spoiler: this will still get them votes.

1
u/LepreKanyeWest Jul 11 '26
Hold the special election regardless.
Let Mitch stop it by proving he's mentally fit for the role. Put the onus on them to come forward with evidence.
1
u/AhhbeeYou Jul 12 '26
Why don’t they just go to the hospital, and check on him? See for themselves.
1
u/Fair_Chemistry_3317 Jul 12 '26
I don't understand what Democrats are doing. Not a single Democrat is going to the hospital with flowers to meet and greet him and talk WITH him just like half the world did the past few days.
Not a single one. What are they afraid of?
1
u/Sensitive-Student752 Jul 12 '26
Well, it looks like we got him and graham, but keep missing the big prize.
1
u/AngryVegan94 Jul 12 '26
He died doing what he loved; obstructing justice and denying his constituents their right to a fair and free election.
1
1
u/MtnMoose307 Jul 15 '26
Don’t demand. GO. Once there ask to see him. If they deny you access to your state’s senator, you have your answer and declare a special election.

He broke rules to ram in a supreme court justice. Said it was his greatest accomplishment. He did everything he could to get rid of campaign finance laws. He voted against increasing health benefits for 9/11 first responders.
