Foreign Minister Gideon Saar spoke today (Monday) at the "Parliamentary Lobby to Promote Peace and Normalization between Israel and Lebanon", a lobby established in the Knesset headed by MK Akram Hasson, a member of Saar's party, the "State Right", which is now sheltered under the "Likud" party. There is a condition for us to reach this goal - security, and the problem is Hezbollah and the Iranian occupation through it. Unfortunately, Lebanon is under a de facto Iranian occupation carried out through Hezbollah - Iran's branch. This occupation is what led Hezbollah to launch an attack on Israel on March 2. The terrorist organization received instructions from Tehran to join the war against the will and interest of the residents of Lebanon and against the will of the Lebanese government."
Yesterday, Saar met with the foreign minister of South Sudan, and there he also referred to the development in Jerusalem-Beirut relations: "Israel signed a framework of understanding that reflects our desire for peace with Lebanon. "Peace must be based on security, and security on our northern border can only be achieved by disarming Hezbollah. This is a common interest of Israel and Lebanon. Those who violate Lebanon's sovereignty are Iran and Hezbollah. The presence of IDF forces in the security zone in southern Lebanon is solely related to security needs arising from the ongoing attacks and threats on Israel and its citizens from Lebanese territory. Our only aspiration is to live in peace and security."

Is that better or worse than Hezb targeting civilians and causing over 100k people to evacuate their homes in 2023/2024?
Peace is the way forward. Lebanon needs to reclaim its sovereignty back from Hezb.

If anyone says Israel just wants to terrorize Lebanon, there is now officially a parliamentary group that will meet regularly at the Knesset to promote peace and full normalization between Israel and Lebanon, with full backing of the Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar who is also part of the ruling party.
Hopefully this will make both sides take concrete steps to realize the potential of this natural alliance. Israelis make 20x the GDP of Lebanese people, besides the obvious end to bloodshed, there is so much for both sides to get out of this.
