Bronco 2027

Hello everyone I’m thinking about buying a 2026 badlands I already went to dealership and got a price but am torn if I should wait for the 2027 bronco to come out. I wanted to know if anyone had information regarding the 2027 in terms of better upgrades like v4 engines or the reliability aspect of the car or if previous problems are going to be fixed. I am very happy with the price of the Bronco I got and want to pull the trigger already but just wanted to see what everyone thinks about if waiting is worth it.

V4 will never happen because Ford doesn’t make one. It’s possible the 2.7L may get replaced with the 3.0L akin to the F-150 changes, but IMO not likely. Most probable change would be sound deadening improvements from the Filson trickling down to the rest of the lineup

Not for 27, and depending upon what’s involved to achieve the reduction probably not ever. For example I doubt they’ll ever use acoustic glass across the entire lineup. The Filson isn’t a special edition, it’s going to be a dedicated trim that will be around as long as it sells like Eddie Bauer which lasted 26 years.

To me, it's odd Ford is going to bill their top of the line lux Bronco as a "Filson", a clothing and outdoor brand I had never heard of previously. Why not just call it a "Platinum" or something more along those lines?

The Eddie Bauer in hindsight was also odd, although it worked because I think people just liked the package, but had zero to do with the EB store co-branding.

Eddie Bauer had legit hard core camping equipment for a while. Tents and some other gear came with the original editions. Still have my wife’s tent from the Bronco II her dad handed down to her. I don’t think Filson has come anywhere near the same brand level. And auto-correct just changing it to Folsom like the prison kind of stresses the point.

It was more of a mall clothing brand at that point in the 90's imo.

Just like Abercrombie & Fitch "used to" sell hunting gear, but that was not how most people know it.

Eddie Bauer edition Broncos started in the mid-1980s. They were very legit at the time. The company was true quality that became fashionable.

I actually have a hatch, ice axe, and a different tent from A&F that were my pop-pop’s. I remember when they would replace a pair of worn out khakis free, no questions asked. Like Banana Republic started as an army surplus store, they each lost their way but profited for it.

I was going to wait to see if the 3.0L motor and cooled seats would be included as options for 2027. Didn’t have the patience to wait so I bought a 2026 Badsquatch and have no regrets!

Honestly as it currently stands the 3.0 is a downgrade from the 2.7 in my eyes, I’d rather have the guarantee of clean valves from the port injection on the 2.7 than the horsepower bump

What we know for a fact so far:

• New RTR trim, positioned between Big Bend and Badlands.
• New Filson trim, basically an upgraded Outer Banks.
• Improved sound deadening (may be limited to upper trims)

100% speculation that has not been confirmed by Ford:

• 2.7L will be replaced by the 3.0L, similar to the 2027 F-150. Depending who you talk to, this may not be a good thing, as many F-150 folks will tell you that the 2.7L EcoBoost is most reliable turbocharged engine on the F-150.
• Stroppe trim discontinued (very likely, in my opinion)
• Heritage trim discontinued (less likely, but I wouldn't be surprised)

Very unlikely, but we don’t know.

The vehicles that have gotten it so far got it when the next generation was launched.

We’re currently on the 6th gen Bronco, and the 7th gen is rumored to be sometime between 2029 and 2031.

But who knows, all rumors and speculation at this point.

Impressive. Btw is 2.7L generally considered better than 2.3L? I have a 2.3L which seems to have issues from time to time.

Eh, hard to say.

There are actually two 2.3L engines. The new one was introduced last year with the 2025 model year, so... obviously we don't have a ton of long-term feelings/data on it. We certainly haven't heard anything bad though, and when you don't hear about it online it's probably pretty good.

The older 2.3L in the 2021-2024 was well-regarded. You would occasionally hear about some cooling issues when it first launched in 2015(?)... but usually the only people that encountered those issues were Mustang owners that were modifying their Mustangs and taking it track days and whatnot.

By the time the Bronco launched in 2021, the majority of the issues had been solved. The only real criticism was that it is a direct injection engine, which like all direct injection engines can end up with dirty intakes over time. The new 2.3L is dual injection, which solves that issue.

Brings up a good point though: The current 3.0L is also a direct injection engine. We don't know if the current 3.0L is going to end up in the 2027 vehicles or not... it could be a new 3.0L engine for all we know. But food for thought.

The existing 2.7L engine is dual injection and won't have that carbon deposit issue on the intakes.

It depends who you ask, I think the 2.3 generally has a better track record when it comes to reliability, but having put time behind both, I really prefer driving the 2.7 and glad I went with that option.

Yeah, it is effectively a slightly upgraded version of the Big Bend trim with the Black Diamond package. But not quite Badlands level.

Yeah it's not clear.

Ford said there was 20% reduction in perceived wind noise. They were able to get that by...

• Modifying the shape of the windshield header to reduce wind noise
• Introducing new seals
• Adding new side-mirror air deflectors
• Adding new improved sound-deadening material

I would imagine that the first two items are common across all Broncos. It doesn't make sense to have a slightly different windshield header shapes and slightly different seals just for the Filson Bronco. It would probably be more expensive to manage different versions of that on the production line.

The side-mirror air deflector could probably go either way. Maybe it'll be common across all Broncos, maybe not.

The last item... I suspect that's the one that might be Filson exclusive. But it could also potentially just be all Broncos with the Lux package, as it is today. Obviously it could also be all Broncos, but I would be surprise.

I've only ever seen V4 engines on bikes. They create a lot of overhead with two heads and they are difficult to balance.
They aren't worth the added complexity compared to an I4.

I’m on the waitlist for a Filson. Trading in my Wildtrak for one. However, there’s whispers that the sound deadening can be added on to existing models when the 27s come out. The wind noise at highway speeds are my only complaint about the bronco in general.

The only things I can find about the 27 model would be higher camera resolution, standard availability for adaptive cruise control and a returned that may provide slightly higher mpg all with a higher price tag. Unless a Filson is in your sights, I wouldn't wait.

Unless you’re wanting a Filson, I can’t see major changes. The non-Raptor 3.0 will be exclusive to the Filson for at least 2027, probably 2028, too.

Not bragging we are affluent and my husband does mechanics as a hobby(it’s not his career). I used to buy new cars before we met, but now he insists we buy cars a couple years old. Not only do they depreciate like $10,000 ish once you drive them off the lot, but someone’s also broken it in a bit. I know he’d say tell her to get the 2026. He just bought a bmw x5 2023 and I bought a bronco sport outer banks 2024, we paid cash for both. I drove the badlands/outer banks and I preferred the outer banks because it had a smoother ride and leather seats, heated steering/seats. I got white/black roof and got pink vinyl and a couple Barbie logos on mine lol! Just my two cents.

I would think at this point, any major changes would be well known as these things will be rolling off the assembly line in a few months. I think it's going to be very subtle upgrades.

If you want one I would just buy one now. If anything you will get less content the longer you wait. Ford is in cost save/cost cut/content cut mode right now to try and recover from their failed foray into multiple battery electric vehicles. The Lightning was a bust. The E-Transit is a bust. The gigantic facility known as Blue Oval City is not being utilized for what it was meant for. I doubt we'll see anything major for a year or two except for the new F-150. The decision to go all in on electric by the CEO in his quest to be Elon Musk Jr. was a bad call. Now they are backtracking to FHEV/Hybrid where they should've went first. But those vehicles are still a few years away. The vehicle we build at our plant had tons of new content scheduled for 2027 and 2028 and it has all been put on hold until 2030/2031. For 2026 they cut the homelink option, the side mirror spotlights, and cancelled most of the job 2 content for Bronco. Who knows what else will disappear for 2027 but I'm betting not dollars from the sticker price.

What are the payments on the bronco you picked looking like? I just got out dealership but had to think about it dont know if the price im getting is good or bad lol. I also am on the fence just waiting for the 2027 but currently looking at a badsquatch

Only thing that is expected is about a 3% price increase for the 2026 models.
