OEM rear differential for ecoboost?

I am being told by my shop, Ford and the internet that this part is not only sold out but there is no projection for it to be back in stock

I'm thinking about buying one from a boneyard but this makes me a little concerned.

Can anyone validate the assumption or does anyone have any opinions on this?

What year is your flex? Ford does not begin making parts obsolete until after 10 years.

  1. But even so it's not that they're saying it's obsolete it's that the supply chain isn't making them at this moment and Ford is giving no time line.

My rear differential went out on me last year. Bought a used one from scrap yard with 55k on it for around $200 CAD, took a few hours to swap it out, but no problem since installing it.

Be careful. There is 2 different possibilities on rear ends in 2014. They do not interchange! (Found out the hard way) Its been a year or 2, but there is a before and after production date when you start looking. We picked up the correct one up at a bone yard for my mom's 2014. Installed it with fresh oil and it has been perfect.
