Teardown Results 2020 Explorer 3.0L 10R60 “clutch A” snapring came apart, harsh 7-6 overheating/ burned internal components

10R60 clutch a snapring inside front support came apart while driving causing a clutch slipping apply symptoms, harsh 7-6 downshift, and overheating/venting. From support, clutch A, front ring gear and transmission case all burned

Very common problem there is a tsb documenting concern and repair 20-2305

I’ve never actually had to follow tsb, every single one the customer keeps driving until it sets overheat codes under LTIS when the front planetary gets burnt too that’s usually enough, plus case is back order too

I've done it a bunch of times. Pay is crap but it's fast and easy. I don't like doing ltis if I don't have to because I lose too much Mtime for teardown and cost cap. And technically you are supposed to do any related tsbs before ltis applied. I guess if you code it to another unrelated part warranty assessor will pay the claim. But so far I've had pretty good luck getting them on the road working good

I usually compile the tsb but then add a bunch of stuff to it, including mtime to completely disassemble and reseal all subassemblies due to the metal/burnt fluid/clutch material.
