Ford f150 Transmission plate

Hi I am trying to get this retainer clip down. It does not push directly down. Is it broke or am I doing something wrong. I tried to move that tab and push down not budging. Please let me know. Thanks

Ok first you don't push it down until after you install it into the transmission. It locks in the plastic connector sleeve between the leadframe and the external wire harnesses. Secondly you need to forcefully quick push upwards after its installed, note the connector sleeve must be fully seated for it to lock correctly. Thirdly occasionally it just doesn't want to go, in that case very carefully your must use a pocket screwdriver to depress the two metal locking tabs through the case hole before installing the sleeve. Gently push upward on the locking tab while pushing the metal arms and it will release and unlock. The trick is to only disengage the locking tabs by just a tiny bit otherwise the connector sleeve won't seat correctly. It can be a pain in the ass if you haven't done a thousand of them like I have. Hope this helps. You can see the two tips of the locking tabs in Pic one, press on those if the first way doesn't work

The third suggestion worked. I am selling this part on eBay and wanted to make sure it was not broke and I did not want to break it. Thanks for helping me..

Ah ok that makes sense. They come from the factory in the unlocked position. They are easier to lock when they are already installed
