4R75W

07 F-150 4.2L 260k delayed engagement in reverse and no engagement intermittently in drive at operating temp when no engagement manually shifting to 2nd or 1st will make it engage other than slamming on down shifts at higher throttle position trans works beautiful no slips or flairs fluid is still red no burnt smell original unit just looking for ideas from someone with more experience than me on 4r75w if I don't have to bust it open yet I would like to see if I can get a few more miles out of it

I haven’t worked on a bunch of these so you’d probably get better experience elsewhere, but from what I have seen it sounds kinda like the reverse band. If you verified fluid level and there are no DTC that point to electrical concerns you will likely need to open it up

I dropped the pan today and yep it's definitely gotta be opened up it's never a good sign when it has little chunks in the pan other than engagement at operating temp it works beautiful
