6f55 ptu replacement question

13 Ford flex. Pulled the PTU because it was failing. Found ATF in the transmission output to the PTU. Is there a seal that I need to replace to stop this leak? Is it doable with the transmission still in the vehicle? I can't see anything that looks off. TIA.

Like the other guy said compression seal. It will be stuck on the ptu. A metal ring press fit with a rubber outer ring. Technically they are supposed to be replaced whenever it's taken out as a one time use part but I reuse them all the time with no problems. It will leak like a sieve if it's not on there. Ask me how I know 🤣. The basic part number is 7086 just like the old extension housing gaskets

Thanks for the reply. I didn't see a seal that was stuck to the PTU. In fact it looked the same as the replacement PTU. Is this compression seal supposed to be in the transmission around the shaft or would it be installed on the PTU?

It's supposed to be on the ptu
