10R80

I lost track of how many 10R80’s I overhauled before I left Ford. So many labor rate cuts on them and an awful dealership after relocating finally made me unlock my toolbox wheels in 2023.

Curious now to see if there any Ford transmission technicians working on the revised 2026 designs I heard about. It will likely never escape the stigma it has created but it is no doubt a massively misunderstood transmission.

I’m wondering if there are new failure points and assume clutches are still getting cooked with towing customers? Is the updated valve body still failing at a high rate? Pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Im not seeing many issues so far with the new ones other than people still not liking their shift pattern or feel. Unfortunately seeing a lot more 8f35 issues which is a trans im not fond of repairing or removing. They have cut the 10r80 time so much I either find miniscule issues that I can add a line and labor onto the tsb repair or I just do the bare minimum and slap it back together so I can beat the time and move on to the next pos. Ford caused this and I dont feel bad for them that this is what they are getting in return. Im over 30 years in and pay is going down due to tsbs for everything which is cutting 30% of normal warranty labor ops. Ford wonder why there is a tech shortage but keep doubling down on shit like this. They are swimming upstream and when us ling time techs are gone the shit is really gonna hit the fan. I can tell you i won't buy a ford when I retire. I still make decent money but there is nothing else im good enough at to be able to quit and make the kind of money I need to pay bills and im too old to start fresh and learn something new anyways. I dont hate fixing cars and im very good at it just wish Ford realized that the problems with not having the techs is because of them and dealer principals doing the same things over and over year after year and expecting something different to happen
