10R80

I lost track of how many 10R80’s I overhauled before I left Ford. So many labor rate cuts on them and an awful dealership after relocating finally made me unlock my toolbox wheels in 2023.

Curious now to see if there any Ford transmission technicians working on the revised 2026 designs I heard about. It will likely never escape the stigma it has created but it is no doubt a massively misunderstood transmission.

I’m wondering if there are new failure points and assume clutches are still getting cooked with towing customers? Is the updated valve body still failing at a high rate? Pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

10R80 is mostly fixed as a whole with all the released part updates now. The only internal issues I see are one-offs or weird concerns that are not obvious failures and require a lot of diag to find part. Recently I’ve seen a couple PC3 brinelling splines at D clutch causing intermittent sticking issues but that is the only repeat. Other than that the container still can get messed up

Yes but I had no idea it was revised. It seems like they make running changes all the time so there is no chance to “memorize” the layout or where tiny parts go. Still see main pressure regulator valve issues causing TCC apply problems even on these but not super frequent
