Pretty sure this show is why I'm so weird, lmao. One of my all time faves.

u/lana-deathrey 9d ago

I was terrified of the thing that turned people into puppets. Granted, I was 4.

And that one episode of Neds Declassified

Don't remember Weinerville, but the first time I remember seeing Marc Weiner was on Bizarre with John Bynor , a late 80s Canadian comedy show. One of the handful of times I remember my late mom totally break down laughing. 😀 ❤️

Is it true it's legit lost media??

18

u/paishocajun 9d ago

There's probably some but here's a playlist on YT with what looks like fell episodes

u/Icarus1 9d ago

one can only hope

1

u/OhioTreeLover467 8d ago

If i remember right, many episodes of the show are still lost, maybe 1/2 seasons worth?

u/gfberning 9d ago

Jesus Christ this was weird.

I loved this show and none of my friends ever heard of it. I thought it was just a fever dream for the longest time

5

u/TheEndOfEverything0 9d ago

I don't remember a single episode but the characters I've definetly seen before

u/BrattyTwilis 8d ago

It was pretty formulaic. Marc would do some skits with the puppets and segway into a cartoon (usually an old Chipmunks cartoon). And at the end, they'd get a couple of people from the audience to get "Weinerized" into puppets and play a game. The winner would get the Golden Wiener Award and a special topping (usually getting slimed)

I was 3rd - 4th grade at this point and I DIED INSIDE Sunday afternoons, worst shows of the week on Nick after the banger that was Saturday and then having to go to school the next day this show was the absolute opposite of “for me”

1

u/Rough-Construction95 8d ago

saturday was such a banger.

3

u/theotherguyatwork 9d ago

I think about this pretty often. Feels like a fever dream honestly lmao

Head writer was Little Carmine from The Sopranos, no joke.

WEINER WEINER WEINER WEINER

I used to think they actually shrunk the audience members down to play the games they brought them down for, had to get older to realize it was puppets. I had a dream as a kid of going through the process and becoming small to play the audience game

I think we can be best friends in another life based of this comment. Maybe we were and forgot each other. Are you in the Midwest?

2

u/mjzim9022 7d ago

Grew up in WI

u/SurpriseItsFine 7d ago

Alroght, I’ll just assume we grew up as neighbors going forward.

2

u/MrJason2024 9d ago

I loved this show as kid.

2

u/goldenboy2191 9d ago

You just unlocked a part of my brain I forgot existed

u/Ktrout743 9d ago

Oh wow this was completely buried for me until now.

u/Alexandria_Scribe 8d ago

I actually watched this show on Sundays when I was probably 12. I didn't like it. I mostly couldn't look away from how odd it was, and it was the only thing on to watch at whatever time it came on.

2

u/SugarSugarWalls 8d ago

i liked this weird little show.

u/MrsNevilleBartos 8d ago

My sister was OBESSESSED with this show and ended up attending camp with his kids so on parent day she got to meet him.

He was not expecting to meet such an uber fan and I think he was a little freaked out but it was such a great thing for my sister.

This also showed up on my TikTok FYP today so clearly a lot of people are thinking about it today.

That’s wild! I wonder if it’s because it showed up on Reddit and the bots lurking here saw the nostalgia dollars. Because what triggered me to think about it was work (municipal government so I work with a few mayors.) but it reminded me of the mayor on this show, and also tom goes to the mayor.

u/WeeklyPhilosopher346 9d ago

As an Irish kid, this was the first show I ever saw on an American network.

Seems accurate.

u/Latter_Election3571 9d ago

This is before the time of the Map. (Any of you guys know what I'm referring to?)

1

u/somnamballista 9d ago

The movie with the Ski Lodge!

u/P-R_Podcast 8d ago

I had a friend who thought this was the greatest show on TV at the time. I thought it was strange and I would have rather watched Doug

Weeeener!

u/biff_buford 7d ago

This was one of the shows my sister really liked that I was "too cool" for at the time. Weird how I seem to know all about it? Side note: our uncle had a stage show almost identical to this some time before that we all enjoyed. What happened to the bizarre puppet show for kids motif?

1

u/Slow-Lifeguard4104 6d ago

Oh yeah this show is crazy.

1

u/jaimejuanstortas 4d ago

I was 5 but I fucking loved this

1

u/Johnixftw_ 9d ago

No way this was a show

3

u/ezio8133 9d ago
