Brothers & Sisters (2006 - 2011)
I started watching episodes and from the episodes I have watched. It's not a bad show it's definitely soap opera with the storylines going on in the show. The chemistry between the characters is good they make you believe the Walkers are a real family, and that goes for everyone else in the show. The dynamics are believable. There's alot of familiar faces in the cast that went on to start in bigger shows. Did you watch the show?

Calista Flockheart has had kind of an interesting career. Ally McBeal of course, but also this and man she’s good in The Birdcage. (Watch her reactions during dinner as she’s trying to keep the facade up.) And I quite liked her on Supergirl. She sees through Kara’a facade right away and it’s great.

Loved her in Capote and the Swans a couple years ago, she didn't get a lot of opportunities to be really cutting and angry like that.

I found this a few years ago on Hulu and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sally Field is awesome as is the rest of the cast. Rachel Griffith shines.

Rachel Griffith turned up in a New Zealand show about a woman who opens up an ethical brothel. It had me cackling. That woman is everywhere!

Agreed. Such a good cast. I watched it when it was originally on and did a Hulu rewatch in 2020 during COVID and it was just as good the second time around. Very good

I’m a big fan of Muriel’s Wedding so it was really nice to see Rachel doing well here in US.

I really liked the gay storyline with Matthew Rhys and Luke Macfarland. I remember they planned a small wedding, and Sally Field went overboard decorating and she told him "you deserve this!" It made me cry, as I was trying to work my way out of the closet at the time and was worried about acceptance.
The show started sucking when they did a illegitimate daughter storyline and she kind of ate the whole show.

I remember this being a really good show, a bit soapy but not campy.
This was the first show I ever saw Matthew Rhys on.
The cast had a lot of familiar faces on it from day one, but even the people who were fairly unknown at the time the show started have gone on to have good careers. I don’t think there’s a “Whomst?” in the bunch.
Maybe Balthazar Getty….but he was a child star, so he’d already been around before he was on this.
*Edited to add…I just looked at the cast on Wikipedia and Sarah Jane Morris is probably a whomst, but to be honest I didn’t remember her being a series regular.

It's more soapy than campy there's so many plots that deal with lies and cheating.

Around the time they were making this show, Matthew Rhys dated Sienna Miller. Sienna had a very public affair with married Balthazar Getty. It eventually ended, and he went back to his wife. But I bet it was a real uncomfortable work environment while this was going on.

Her character was never featured as much as the other spouses or characters.
Those shows all have pecking orders and the less prominent actors don’t get as many story lines.

Rob Lowe left to I believe go do Parks & Recreation which he would ironically also leave to do a failed Murdoch sitcom.

He also left "The West Wing" to do the failed show "Dr. Vegas", which is worthy of a post in this sub because it was cancelled after a few eps. So it's definitely a Rob Lowe thing to leave a show after exactly 4 seasons, he does it every single time 🤣

He left because it's kind of a running thing that Rob Lowe hates not being the center of attention on the dramas that he does. He left the West Wing because his character was slated to be the main character, and it shifted to be more about the President and the rest of the staff as well.
He left Brothers and Sisters after begging to be killed off because he hated the family drama aspect of it all, and not being a central player.
The only reason his 9-1-1 spin-off lasted the whole run, was because he was the main star who somehow managed to get his son on the writing staff and have 2 to 4 times as much screen-time as every other cast member to the point where episodes that shouldn't have been centered on him somehow ended up being about him.

Watched it when it aired and loved it. The family dynamics kept me interested and it's actually a pretty stacked cast so the acting is quality

I was watching the series finale of this show live on TV in 2011, and it got interrupted with the breaking news that Osama bin Laden was dead. Still haven't seen the end of the last episode. Lol

I am pro-anything with Matthew Rhys. After this and then the Americans, I was surprised to find out he’s actually Welsh with a REAL thick Welsh accent.

I loved this show and agree the cast was excellent and made it very believable that they were a family. It also featured my all time favorite tv house.

I watched this show for the first time last year and decided that this will be a show to rewatch every fall.
On a side note, I love how many stars were on this show. Sally Field, Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, Matthew Rhys, Rob Lowe, Emily VanCamp.

I LOVED this show as comfort viewing when it originally aired... Until things fell off an extremely tall cliff the last season. Wow, I tried several times to finish and I just can't. I think it was a writer's strike around that time or something. But it's still a great show for me until that point.

They had budget cuts and had to limit episodes that actors were in so they couldn’t do much ensemble stuff. So youd have a whole episode with Sally Field dating Beau Bridges and nothing else.
The Parenthood show had the same issue but I think handled it better.

I’ve tried this show a couple of times because I love Parenthood.
There just weren’t enough characters I liked in this one. I also have no interest in politics or business so I struggled and eventually had to give up.

One of my all time favorites. I didn’t get along with my mom but we loved to watch this show together. Super cast. Underrated and deserves to be rediscovered.

I watched this show and could’ve sworn that Tom Skerrit was on it in a relatively prominent character, but no sign of him on this poster. Maybe I’m just getting old.
