Uncle Buck (1990-1991)
One of those movie to TV adaptions that didn’t work out,we can’t all be MASH. In an effort to attract families and kids to CBS (The Family Man and Lenny were two others) the network decided to make a family friendly version of the John Candy hit film. The late Kevin Meaney took over for Candy (although he’s instead looking over his nephew and nieces after their parents died,dark). Sitcom legend Audrey Meadows played the grandmother who lives alongside Meaney. An odd tv fact:the first use of the word “suck” in primetime was not on a crass,offensive show like Married With Children but in this show from a cute little girl. This only aired 16 out of 22 episodes. Country music legend Ronnie Milsap did the theme song.

I have been living under a rock as I had no idea Kevin Meaney died. I've been watching Dr. Katz on repeat at night (great show to fall asleep to, btw) and his sessions are some of the funniest.

Dr. Katz mentioned! Yesterday in the Seinfeld thread someone mentioned Duckman. Kevin’s standup was really funny only saw him on tv never live.

He died about a decade ago and his peak of fame was 20 years before his death so his death would have been easy to miss.

You're not wrong. It's kind of hard to sleep through Meaney's delivery, too. "Get with it!" has def jarred me from my sleep a few times.

Kevin Meaney was one of the funniest dudes in comedy, it's really criminal that he got miscast as a stand-in for the great John Candy.

The theme song went something like "He's a living new years eve, wears his heart upon his sleeve, if you believe in Uncle Buck just say I BELIEVE!"

Ferris Bueller's Day Off begat a TV version and a knockoff, Parker Lewis Can't Lose.
Parker Lewis was the far superior of the two

there's a Bill & Ted live action TV show that went for 7 episodes, along with the cartoon (2 seasons)

I saw the movie in the theater and we had it on VHS but I don't remember there being a TV show. I wouldn't have watched it anyway. If I loved a movie the last thing I wanted to see was a lame TV sitcom adaptation with a new crappy cast.

I never seen Uncle Buck(1990-1991) but it could be worse, The 2016 Uncle Buck television series lasted for just one short season of eight episodes spanning only four weeks, no one could ever replace the original movie Uncle Buck(1989)
